Re: Will I like ICS?
^ Good answer.
I never used CM7 to know how it compared to ICS. ICS (now will be called Android 4) is an improved version from Honeycomb (Android 3) from what it seem, so if you like 3, then you'll like 4. You can try out Android 3 tablets at the stores.
My opinion about Honeycomb was indifference, so much that I went through 5 different Honeycomb tablets and ended up with a Windows tablet as the 6th, so I don't think 4 will wow me in anyway, but I tried running a testing version of it on my AMD Windows tablet, and it has some interesting features and controls. I certainly think it will be more usable than the current Android 2.
I am hoping to get a phone like this Galaxy Nexus that would 'replace' my Windows tablet since the hardware is capable of playing HD MKV videos now. I've been more interested on the hardware side of Android phones, honestly Android softwares never wowed me from the beginning (been a Maemo fan, though it had a short life and Meego was disappointing), but at least Android is more open than some other.
PS. If you plan to get the Verizon version, you also should take into account the phone having locked bootloader and bloatwares.Last edited by someguy01234; 12-03-2011 at 07:30 PM.

Very hard to tell. I'm sure it will have lovers and haters. If you didn't watch the hour long walk through check it out. Also I would get some hands on time in the store after it launches.

Re: Will I like ICS?
Would people please quit repeating the nonsense about the Verizon Nexus having a locked bootloader?
Are the people repeating this not aware that even the Nexus One had a locked bootloader?
A locked bootloader is not the same as a locked and encrypted bootloader, folks. The encrypted bootloaders -- like those from Motorola -- are the ones that cause problems.Thanked by 2: - 12-03-2011, 08:00 PM #9
if you like CM7, why not flash CM9?

Re: Will I like ICS?
There's a few apps you can use for this, also one thing to keep in mind as you try them out is that they have to support ICS first. Some developers have only just started this process of updating their apps to work on the newest version of android.

Re: Will I like ICS?
Alright, time to set the record straight before I go to sleep. Yes the Galaxy Nexus has a locked bootloader initially, all the nexus phones do. However, google has left an easy way for developers to unlock it, you get the fastboot drivers, enable usb debugging, then open a command prompt and change the directory to wherever you put the fastboot binaries and type "fastboot oem unlock"
That is how you unlock a nexus family phone's bootloader, they do not come tightly locked or encrypted like a lot of oem "molested" phones do so stop spreading these rediculous rumors about it being impossible to unlock or other crap like that. You are just trying to get people worked up, knock it off troll, I'm done feeding you now. - 12-04-2011, 06:02 AM
