Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
I am new to this.....but ever since I have been religiously following the Gnex I have been curious what the next big phone in the works is? I have heard a few names, but nothing too serious. Whats on the horizon? What do we have to look forward to?

Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
Well it seems like motorola is back into their bad habits that almost killed them before the og droid of releasing a ton of small iterative updates in rapid fire mode so I am not expecting anything "big" from them any time soon, who knows what will happen after the google takeover though.
Samsung is pretty clear cut we've got the Galaxy S3 which if the release is anything like the galaxy s I & II, it will release internationally at the beginning of the summer and make its way stateside next autumn.
HTC has that quad-core ville, that's all I really know about that.
We won't really have a good handle on what next year will be like until CES in january and MWC in march(?), - 12-05-2011, 11:03 PM #7
Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
For the geeks it will be the next Nexus.
Verizon will tell everyone else it's the RazrMAX or RazrHD or what ever they are gonna call the dang thing. - 12-05-2011, 11:05 PM #8
Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
Quad-core phones. The only thing I'm certain that they'll do is extend your battery life.
I could go off on a tangent and say things like they'll allow your phone to go faster and the more cores you have the less strain so blah blah, but I'm really not so sure about those things. Just a small reflection here but slightly more than two years ago I bought my OG Droid, clocked at 550MHz with 256MB of RAM. Now, two years later, we have phones with 720p HD screens, 4G LTE technology, dual-core 1.2GHz processors, and 1GB of RAM. In two years, the specs of the most high-tech phones more than doubled. And I find that to be fascinating. - 12-05-2011, 11:07 PM #9
Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
Moto is gonna screw themselves big time if they keep on the same release schedule. You can only make the same parts into so many things. Not to mention alienating customers. If Google chooses to really dig their hands in, we can safely expect the Nextus to be a Moto phone.

Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
The next big thing for me is the Verizon version of the Galaxy note. Im keeping my Nexus until Verizon gives me a bigger phone. 4.3 is getting a bit small.

Have ever heard for Moore's Law? A law made by one of the co-founders of Intel.
"Moore's law describes a long-term trend in the history of computing hardware: the number of transistors that can be placed inexpensively on an integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years." - 12-06-2011, 02:47 AM #19
If you're a Nexus fan, the next big phone is coming December 2012 - Nexus 4.

Probably the first Krait, Exynos 5xxx, Tegra 3 and OMAP 5 devices running ICS. Seriously, worthless is running 2.3 at this point.
But im getting sick of Android and the carriers. Such poorly polished and thought out software compared to iOS. It even shows on my Kindle Fire.

Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
I love when people call iPhone users isheep......while in a forum that has people chomping at the bit for a phone that they worship the same way as iPhone users worship theirs.
Why not call you a NexusSheep? Its basically the same thing. iPhone work for some people better than Android devices do. Not EVERY iPhone user gets the iPhone just because of its popularity.
And at least Apple has the gonads to tell carriers how it is going to be without bending and giving in to the carriers wishes. Too bad we cant say that about Google..... Yeah sure it's "only 2 Verizon apps" but when get down to it, a NExus device should have NO carriers apps installed. And then there is the carrier branding on the Galaxy Nexus......Thanked by: - 12-06-2011, 07:28 AM #23
Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
Honestly I don't care after the GNex, at least for another two years. I'm mildly interested to see Intel's foray into the Android marketplace, but not so fascinated as to shell out an exorbitant amount of cash to get my hands on the finished product 8 months sooner.

The next big phone will be the next Nexus, a year from now. Why don't you wait for it OP.

Re: Whats the Next Big Phone after the GNex?
Dude SLOW DOWN!! Why is everyone always trying to predict the next thing? How about we sit back and enjoy life and let things flow naturally? Instead of asking about the Droid 8, Samsung Galaxy S5, and the Nexus 15. Chill. Whenever you're due for an upgrade and ready, pick from whatever is out at the time.
