Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

I just received a call from a Verizon Corporate Store Rep...I had set an appointment to come in on Friday, Dec. 9 in the morning to upgrade to the Nexus. He said that the launch had been delayed and he would call me back as soon as he could reschedule the appointment. He knows I am a huge android geek and was trying to get me the Nexus as fast as possible. So it seems that this confirms that I will not have it by Friday at least...BOOOOO!!!

Lol my local Verizon ****** bags told me they know nothing about it, and that they wouldn't be surprised if it got canceled. I was like... You guys truly are brainless.

What is going on with Verizon? They are having a lot of network problems.

how big is the city you live in? Theres only 1 vzw store in my area -population 125k- and Im hoping that theyll have plenty of devices since this area is pretty tech savvy. Theyre not saying though how many devices they recieved. Either way Im showing up a half hour before the stores open on launch day whenever that is

Phil,

You had previously mentioned that the LTE hiccup wasn't the reason for the delay. Is this still the case?

This morning, my data was working perfectly fine with great 4G coverage. Then all of a sudden, I lost my data (didn't even have 1x data) for a little about two hours and now it's starting to come back as 3G; still no 4G. Btw, i'm located in southern california. (CORRECTION: i've lost data again, lol)

i could see this data issue being significant enough to have been the reason to throw a bump in the road for the scheduled (rumored/leaked that is) launch date of 12/9 (the same way something similar delayed the launch of the Droid Charge).

thanks! :)

Not so indestructible.... Their network is what keeps me from going back to AT&T. I think that's probably true for a lot of people who don't have an emotional connection to their carrier.

Wow, this is a long thread. I feel for you guys about the delay (if there is one). However the 13Th. would be nice for me because it would be on my off day. With a Friday release I would have had to go after work and deal with the friday crowds.

Going in the morning is awesome because very few people are there. I think I'm going to stick it out with Verizon for now but if it delays until next year I'll switch.

To you guys who think the Galaxy Nexus is not all that and are wondering about phones with better specs, I would suggest going ahead and getting those phones. I don't think you are truly nexus fans and you may be happier. I wish they had sold the Galaxy S2 on Verizon.

A coworker showed me a SGS2 he bought on Ebay (the T-mo version). It's a nice phone but, I wouldn't take it over the GN, I just don't see it. I could tell my coworker even liked my GN a little better. I'm biased because I'm a hard-core Nexus fan.

Just as an FYI - I'm here in central Kansas and I've had no data at all now for the last three hours. Started about 1:00PM CDT.

I have not had 3G data here in SE Virginia since about 8AM.

Hopefully this is the reason for the delay and it is fixed soon.

I'm pretty sure that the Nexus got delayed because of this issue. I'm on board with that theory. Major 4G LTE phone release coming up....then bam! Problems with the network. Verizon is probably busy putting out fires and thus this pushed back the launch. It makes complete sense. What a nightmare it would be for the Nexus to come out only to have their LTE service take a complete dump.

Google and Samsung would probably be shaking their heads (again) in utter disbelief.

Verizon is doing the right thing if you ask me.

The more that comes out about this data outage, I'd be surprised if it didn't have something to do with the delay. Issues with 4G service need to be ironed out before launching a new, flagship 4G phone. Remember the average consumer doesn't know much/anything about this phone yet. So if it launches and then the network doesn't work, that's a huge PR/Marketing screw up. Much more so than aggravating a bunch of android geeks. So, form a long term, overall perspective, it is smarter of Verizon to make sure everything is working before releasing this.

Hopefully that happens in the next few days though...

Or they caused the outage just to give a reason to delay it... I'm grabbing the tin foil to make a hat, wanna join me?

Dont care since they dont have 4g here! ;)

Its obvious they are not going to launch the GN without the lte working properly... How else are they going to get the new customers to go over their data cap..

I'm in SW VA and have had 4G all day. Could be that VZW needs a network fix for the roll-out since an OTA is required for ICS.

Amen, brother. Release the phone. It'll be a year or more before I get 4G coverage.... you guys can survive for a few days without it.

I had a taste of 4G on my brother in law's phone and we don't have 4g down here yet. To me it would be like losing crack for an addict!

There are still more people with 3G phones than LTE out there. Also, don't ever think "everybody" is waiting for GNEX just because all of us on this forum and others are waiting for GNEX. There are whole lot of people out there don't know anything about GNEX. We are only a very small minority.
