vzw employee view on delay

You keep pushing this view, and we keep cramming this ridiculous notion back down your throat. Verizon and Google would have negotiated these terms months ago. Even if Verizon was somehow reconsidering its stance, IT WOULD NOT CAUSE ANY DELAY IN THE NEXUS. Wallet is just an app. It can be distributed through an OTA or through the market. It is NOT the reason for the delay.

You have no proof that it isn't the reason, and we have no proof that it is. Stalemate.

We'll never likely know the reason for the delay. But it certainly wasn't the LTE network.

Thank you. It is funny people think Wallet would cause the delay, when it can and if needed would be added via an ota.

What is?

Exactly. If it were this and they reconsidered, then all they would have to do is tap a few buttons and make it available in the market.

I completely blows my mind how far this ridiculous rumor has gone. A few cryptic and offhand statements from Google and VZW and a LOT of reading between the lines. Just because Phandroid said it does NOT make it so. Verizon was apparently offered the chance to license it the same as Sprint and for whatever reason declined. That is their right. Google is understandably not too happy about that but ultimately as long as it is a licensed product a carrier can decline to license it if they choose not to. If anyone wants to hack it on then they can do that to as it is a Nexus device.

I agree... unless of course wallet shows up in the initial OTA. Then i don't know what ti believe, but i won't care cause I'd be thrilled

Actually, we have proof from those that got this handset early, as well as from leaks like P3, that the radios have been a constant issue that was fixed with an OTA that is not yet available. 4.0.2, and then 4.1, both drastically improved radio quality. We know that from leaks from testers. NONE of the handsets that got sold early have either of those updates, and MOST have some pretty significant connectivity issues.

Wallet is not the issue. No one that knows anything about what's going on with the Nexus has suggested anything remotely resembling that. Some have even come right out and said that it is the dumbest suggestion trying to explain the delay that they had ever read. The Wallet issue was settled in negotiations months ago, and would not be a reason for the delay. For Christ's sake people, its SOFTWARE that can be sent in a later update if Verizon decides they want it! It is NOT something that would cause a delay.

AMEN!

And it is NOT a Net Neutrality violation to choose NOT to license something.

I agree about the software update. To be specific, my opinion is, that they will allow Google Wallet, but Google will have to pay. The negotiations are why there is a delay. It is only an opinion, but it is an opinion that may never be proven or disproven. It is an opinion as to why there is a delay. To say unequivocally that it is not the reason while admitting no knowledge of the true reason, if there is another definitive reason, is rather insincere. We should all know by now that things like this happen for one reason and one reason only...money. It is also my opinion that proper inventory levels are not yet satisfactory. I lean toward the Wallet issue because I am cynical enough to believe that if the 9th were the target date, then public squabbling between the two parties just hours before that date may not be a coincidence.

Nice attempt at backtracking. You have attempted to claim, unequivocally I might add, that Wallet is the reason for the delay. You are wrong.

Personally, just because phandroid said it, I don't believe it.

Wrong again. Verizon had to agree to certain terms when they purchased the 700mhz spectrum... Spewing ignorance once again.

They did. But I would agree with whatshisface that it isn't an issue here. Wallet interacts very minimally with the network, and it isn't even an app someone can CHOOSE to download right now. The c block rules wouldn't really apply here. What WOULD would be Verizon not including an app because they wanted to push their own service over it. But the FCC wouldn't even be able to get involved until Isis is available.
