GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
I am rocking an OG Droid with unlimited data plan. Went just now to grab my shiny GNex and the VZW site is claiming it's not 'compatible' with my existing data plan. But the Razr, among many other phones, IS. Wtf? Is this bogus? My data usage isn't too heavy since I'm often near wifi, but I was kind of counting on staying grandfathered in to unlimited data...

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
I went through the process just to see if I could enter a code and it did the same thing for me.. but if you see from the options it gives, unlimited data is the first one and is automatically selected. Not sure why it does that but you still get unlimited data.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
You should be fine. After you open the window to change it, you'll see you don't really have to give up your unlimited plan; the plan just has to be altered to accommodate 4G capability.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
I went through the motions and my plan was intact. It even said I was eligible for some kind of discount and, my bill basically would stay the same. I'm hoping this is the case when I go into the store tomorrow.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
Same thing from my end (coming from an OG Droid). had an online chat with a rep, and here is what he told me -->
REP :: Okay here is what you do, when you get the phone, call customer service, tell them to place you back on it and they will, then they will activate your phone.
REP:: They have to, its policy, you can even do the survey when this chat is over and have it sent to your email, on top of that, if you continue and give me the order confirmation, i will put this order right into the system for you.
....needless to say, i had the chat transcript emailed to me... so hopefully i won't have any probs when i call customer service on friday to put me back on my old plan. - 12-15-2011, 12:52 AM #11

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
Well I noticed that it said I qualify for a "loyalty" discount. It's basically 100 dollars off. Pretty awesome.
It was automatic when I added it to my cart. This was for a BB Storm.
I also upgraded another line to a GN, and it was discounted to 249.99 ...I don't remember why, I think it either has something to do with my company discount or that I'm seeing the every 2 year upgrade discount. This is for an OG Droid. If I remember correctly, it's something like 50 bux off for when you upgrade after 2 years or something. Not sure.
Either way, I didn't pay the 299.99 for either of my Galaxy Nexus phones.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
I tried 3 times and it kept saying my current unlimited data plan was not compatible... but I think I tricked it and it worked. I changed my text message option to something else and then simply changed it back to what I had it as (leaving the data as unlimited) and then it went through and so far it seems I still have unlimited data. Hope this helps.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
The unlimited data option was picked by default for me when I checked out and I did so with no errors. My confirmation email even shows I was given unlimited data.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
Weird - I added a line to a family plan and it forced me to add a "tiered" data plan even though I have a "grandfathered" unlimited data plan on all of my lines - I went through and ordered it anyway and will call them and change when I activate the phone - Verizon has always been very good that way - I am not concerned.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
ditto on the keeping unlimited plan..........It was the default setting when I checked out, too. I also used the bill to plan option. On the other hand, VZW's website wasn't responding this morning when I first tried to order. Maybe they were having *gasp* system issues due to the demand? I wandered off to have some coffee, came back, and was able to order with no problems.

Re: GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??
I tried it again, it clearly says I am on an unlimited plan and that the new Nexus is not available on that plan, I did not have unlimited as a choice. They are trying to take away my unlimited data plan to upgrade, and I am not happy with Verizon. They made me take this smart phone data plan bundle because of the Exilim phone I chose even the the web browser on it is nearly worthless and so I rarely used it for more than checking Gmail.

I also ordered online, and had no problems keeping unlimited data. It was automatically selected as others have stated. The phone I was originally under contract on, was the original Droid. I am upgrading from a Droid X however, that I bought off contract.
