I haven't had any issues with my nexus. not one radio issue... nothing. In fact I love ICS and feel bad for people not buying or returning nexus devices.

To the OP - a "phantom" nick probably came from shipping or mishandling. :banghead:

I'm considering returning my GN for a Razr. I'm sitting here at the kitchen table with a Droid X, Droid Incredible and GN. My signal strength on the GN is -114, and the X and Inc are -89. Some may disagree, but I consider having a good signal as the most important feature in a smart phone. The camera on the GN just sux. I know it's not a DSLR, but like the saying goes, the best camera is the one you have with you. The camera I have with me is going to be my cell phone camera 99.9% of the time. The volume is also a big issue for me. The GN is nowhere near as loud as my X. The navigation volume IMO is very low compared to other phones I've used.

I guess I'm just disappointed with the GN. I was expecting more.

The camera aspect I disagree; you have way more options with the GN camera.
Go into settings and play with the exposure, also if u are indoors try some of the white balance settings....
For me the camera is definitely a strong point

Remember that the Incredible had signal problems at the beginning, too. They fixed it with a software update.

Yep they fixed it about 2-3 weeks after release. I figure the same will happen here as well. My signal is lower than my Inc's was however the call quality is better and network speeds faster I'm the browser etc.

Think I'll wait out any fixes that are coming.

FWIW, turning off GPS doesn't do anything for battery life in and of itself. If you have a app constantly asking for a GPS fix, then the app is the problem. Leaving the GPS radio on doesn't mean it's active. It just means it's ready for duty. This has been discussed on the podcast and in the forums.

I am just totally blown away by the nasty and vicious nature of the comments in this thread. I too am now strongly considering returning my GN. I knew what there was too know about the GN because I was in this forum since it started up. What none of us knew was the extent of the weak signal issue. Even so, I had pretty much decided to stick with the Nexus because I like the phone and ICS so much, that is, up until today. I am in Kansas and the leading edge of the huge winter storm is now setting in, rain, ice and snow. When I tried to use my GN about an hour ago while talking to VZW CS the phone completely lost signal. We are supposed to have a blizzard starting tonight with potential white out conditions tomorrow. In case of emergency in these kinds of conditions I feel that its mandatory that I have a phone that is able to keep signal. Without that I have the feeling that I am jeopardizing my family's safety and that's an exchange that I'm not willing to make.

I am going to hold off until mid January to see if an update is pushed that will fix this issue and I sincerely hope that that happens. But, if it doesn't, I will be replacing it. What I will get I have no idea because I'm not thrilled with either the Razr or the Rezound but having a working phone in an area like we live in is not something that I can give up.

I didn't buy any of the Big 3 (Razr, Rezound, Nexus) because they are all too big. I really wanted to love on of those phones but couldn't get over the size of all Three. Many people say the thinness makes up for the size - I don't.

Let's at the size of all three phones (area = height x width):

Rezound 5.08 x 2.58 = 13.11 "
Nexus 5.33 x 2.67 = 14.23
Razr 5.15 x 2.71 = 13.95
Dinc 2 4.75 x 2.52 = 11.97
iPhone 4S 4.54 x 2.31 = 10.75

The Rezound is actually pretty thick and heavy (.54 and 6 oz.) I have fairly small hands and none of the big three fits comfortably in my hands or in my pockets (I actually prefer my shirt pocket and only the iPhone 4S and Dinc 2 fit in there without sticking out the top). As for the actual phone's themselves all three superphones are very nice in operation and I think most people would be happy with any of the three buying the one that fits best for them. I've felt for a long time that the sweet spot for phone size is 3.7" (OG Dinc) to 4.0" (Dinc 2). I was lucky enough to score a red Dinc 2 for free over Thanksgiving. It's a nice device and I have until 15 Jan to return it if I need to. The red is very distinctive and the phone feels great in hand and fits nicely in either my pant's pocket or shirt pocket. Wish I could get rid of the Verizon bloatware but I'm don't really want to root the phone. I would really like to stay stock for now. I am going to do a second go around with all three phones just to confirm my decision. What I'd really like is in about a year they come out with 4.0" qHD phone, dual core, 1 GB ram, and 2nd gen LTE - that would be a perfect phone for me because I don't expect LTE in my small down until 2013 at the earliest. I wish everyone would stop beating up anyone's phones and attempt to add constructive criticism to help everyone make a good decision.

Returned mine yesterday and went back to my iphone. The nexus had way to many issues which explains a lot of the delay in the phone. I don't think it was delayed enough because in my opinion it is not ready for the main stream yet. I think they should have worked A LOT more of the bugs out before shipping this phone. The audio issues is terrible but even worse than that is my wife has an iphone and I could compare db's between the two and the iphone was ALWAYS 20 or so db's higher. I thought it was a good phone but not ready yet. I decided to go back to what I trust and this way my signal is good, my battery is good and I don't have to worry about missing calls because of signal issues or a dead battery. People got to impatient and I think Verizon pushed it out just to get it out there and because there are more phones coming down the pipe. Good luck to everyone who sticks it out with this phone. Hopefully they can get these issues fixed and I will reorder one but I am not holding my breath. Some stuff just can't be fixed by software and a lot of this stuff is not software so I guess we will wait and see.

I didn't know that, but I'm not going to count on verizon fixing a problem when they don't even acknowledge it exists. I went to the verizon store today and compared my gn to a razr. Using speedtest.net, i consistently got at least 2 meg faster 4g speeds on the demo razr. Also, The difference in the speakers blew me away. The razr is so much louder.

I agree on both of your statements. The razor was consistently faster and the speakers were A LOT louder! Those are two big selling points for me.

I would be a little more forgiving since the GNex is newer HW with a new OS. I can't think of any software release that was perfect the day it released. That goes for mobile devices or the OS you run on your system.

I agree some things should've been reviewed before release. And then again, all of us would be posting rumor release dates and driving each other crazy.

If you think the Razr is for you, go for it. I tried the demo unit at work and loved it. I also love the fact that my Gnex is giving me a pure android experience.

In store employees know nothing. I went to buy a spare battery, and the rep went on and on that people were having battery issues. She then said "Can I see your phone?" and installed ATK. :-/ I didn't say anything because she was hot.

Nevertheless, Verizon has acknowledged the issue and is looking into it, as has been discussed at length on this board. A software fix is coming.

At least it doesn't drop calls when you hold it wrong. :-)
