Default VZN Guy said someone could use a photo of you to unlock phone

He said face unlock is only a 2D scan and someone could hold a photo of you up to the phone and it would face unlock for them.

    True or not?

    true in some cases...

    ..but think about it practically,

we password/pin/pattern/face protect our phones so if we lose them strangers cant get in them

...what stranger who finds your phone is going to have a picture of you?

..and if you are that worried just don't use face unlock, use pattern or pin

true its not a very safe way if your real worried about safety. If someone knows you and really wants to get in your phone they can use a pic of facebook.

It's true. I've done it myself with a picture of myself just to see if it would work.

Ok good to know so when I am using my phone to text my boyfriend I need to delete the texts so my husband can't read them if I am going to use face unlock.

    Thanks!

Thats why it warns you before you activate it that it is a low security option. The pin or the pattern make it more secure.

Bottom line... If you see someone come up and take a picture of your face in public, hold on to your phone. If you're just trying to keep your girlfriend out of your phone, you probably have bigger issues to worry about.

And what does everyone have on their phone that is so important. I would say 10% of the users on this forum actually have something to worry about pretaining to info being on their phones that needs to be so secure that if they lost it it would mean financial ruin or a security breach. And if that is a company issued phone (which in that case, it most likely would be) the IT department that issued the phone should take steps to safeguard the info that is on the device, and it should be reported imediately if the phone is lost or stolen.

There is an app called visidon which does face unlock as well. It has a feature that makes you blink to make sure you're a real person and not a picture. It works very well i use it on my epic touch.
