    Default Ringer settings?

    Hello all,

So heres my question as I am about to make the jump to GN from my BB Tour next weekend so I have a few days to learn the phone before I go back to work...

Unable to find this answer so here goes..
Current at night I set my BB sound to phone calls only, does the GN have different settings too< i dont want to get noises for FB notification, emails, text, etc, just want the phone to ring when I go to bed.

    Thanks,

    Dave-

It's a s simple as an app. is what I've used for the past 1.5 yrs as has my wife. Works fantastic in doing what you are looking for.

There is a whole thread about just this actually. ICS has merged the notification and ringer volumes into 1. I am surprised to hear that the poster above said Bedside could separate the ringers, I believe others have reported that in ICS that this app and others now cannot.

In any case here is the other thread and the app " that I use to get around it in ICS. The setup is a bit long and obtuse, but after that it is quick and easy to manage sound profiles....

I'll have to re-test, but I believe I tested this when I first got my GNex I was able to use the default settings in Bedside and it worked as it had in prior android OS releases (i.e calls come through, but notif sounds do not). At the very least it is silencing my notif sounds...I'll have to check that the ringer still sounds when I get a call.

    I'll report back...

I used found in the market. Works great, plus you can have it automatically set profiles by time of day. I have a profile "Bedtime" to silence all but the phone.

The app has the ability to separate the ringer and notification sounds. It also features an option to send an automated response to text message, so when I'm in bedtime mode it sends out a response "sleeping, call me in the morning".

It's pretty flexible and I've been using it for a couple of years without any problems.

Try Phone Weaver by SBSH. Allows profiles based on location/time/connectivity, etc. Developer says it works with ICS...

Sure enough, you are correct and I was wrong. I could have sworn that I put the app Bedside through its paces on day one and it worked as it had in older android OS's. It does not.

Sorry for any misguided suggestions for OP.

Now, off to dig through that linked thread regarding this...thanks

Unfortunately this app - and all the other Volume manager type apps no longer separate notification volume from Ringer volume in ICS. Some - like this one - seem to indicate that they are separate, but in fact are not in real use in ICS .. Hopefully Google will fix the issue in ICS soon to make all of these apps function correctly again. Seems like such an odd choice/oversight in ICS ..
