Question Some issues with my GNEX? Any fixes?

Most of these have been posted here probably, so I do apologize ahead of time, just want to see if any solutions have been posted and if anyone else is experiencing these.

    - What is everyone doing about the phone volume? I've missed so many texts/calls due to how low the notification sounds are.

    - Whenever I switch from portrait to landscape, vice versa, it lags like crazy. It takes a good bit to switch, few seconds at least. Anyone else having this issue?

    - When I open up my camera, on the left side there is a "blue" line going down the side of the picture. No clue what it is, I'll try and take a picture of it. It's the same color as the ICS blue or whatever color you call that.

    - Has there been a way to sync contacts w/ Facebook, so the photos sync up? And the photos that do sync look extremely pixelated when I make phone calls, anything I can do to fix that. They look stretched out.

    - Whenever I'm using the browser in 4G, often website will get stuck loading, simple sites too. Like the progress bar will stop at quarter of the way then a few seconds later shoot up and the website finishes loading.

    - I went to the mall the other day to compare my GNEX to the Rezound and other phones. Does the GNEX look better than the Rezound display or is it just me?

    - I tried comparing the 4G speed on the Nexus and Rezound but they couldn't get the 4G working on the Rezound floor model. I tested my GNEX next to another one and got the same speed and full bars. When I got back home, my GNEX went back down to 2 bars, it goes back and forth 1-2 bars. I was getting the same speed at home as at the VZW store even though I had full bars there and only 1 at home. What is that about? But the weird thing was that in between the the VZW store and my house I took a test and was getting 30mbps, but at the VZW store and my house I'm only getting 5-11mbps. I cant understand that. Oh and onther thing, I test the 4G on several tablets at the VZW store along with a couple other 4G phones and the speed I got from SpeedTest was the same as my GNEX, everything got around the same download/upload results. So people are saying that the GNEX is lower quality LTE device than say the Rezound and others?

    - Is the loss of a removable sdcard starting to bother anyone? If your phone breaks possible lose everything, pictures, etc.? I didn't think it would at first and I didn't think only 32GB of storage would matter, but 64 sounds a lot better. I tend to play a lot of movies for my son, education videos and what not.

    - My last comment/? for now. I know the battery sucks on the GNEX but mine will die seriously in 2-3 hours, usually less than that. I'll be doing minor browsing, facebook, etc. No video or music. When I do charge my phone, it charges quick as hell for me, anyone else? I have a bunch of charges that fit my GNEX, all my Motorola charges fit. Is it safe to other charges than the one that came with the phone?

I think it does. The Rezound is a Super LCD and as such, the colors aren't as vibrant and the blacks look washed out to me compared to the Super AMOLED screen of the GNex.

You can use Haxsync for the facebook and contact issue. It's .99 but worth it to some people.

I haven't read through every thread but for what its worth, I was having absolutely horrendous battery life on mine too and there was one single change that I just made that seems to have done a world of good: use a static wallpaper. I've had two Android phones before this and I love live wallpapers, but there seems to be something about the Galaxy Nexus that doesn't handle them well...or such is my experience. For the first time, I've gone close to 5 hours today and used only 30% battery, though I should mention I bought the extended 2100mAh battery right out the gate.

I've also got abysmal reception (0-1 bar and <1 Mbps down 3G) in my house so what I do is keep it on Airplane mode with wifi on whenever possible. I've got a Google Voice number so I use GrooVeIP to make and receive calls at home.

    Zing!

Bud there are signal issues with many of these phones..... actually could be all of them but those in strong signal areas aren't seeing it. Mine sounds similar to yours..... browser stops because it can't grab a signal, poor 3g and virtually no 4G, and awful battery life. I've spent a great deal of time at the Verizon stores comparing signals and performance of the gnex (demoed and my own) with the Rezound and I think there is something wrong with the gnex that may or may not get fixed. You may want to try out some battery life 'fixes' detailed in other threads..... they may help you some. I've owned the DROID x and original DROID and they perform much better in CDMA mode.

My browser freezes up even on wifi sometime, so im not sure its all do to the signal. That is only issue im really annoyed with. I havent figured out a fix yet. The browser just closes sometimes too. If anyone has ideas to try to fix that then let me know, just weird with it "stuck" for like thirty seconds when loading a simple screen.

My battery died after 2-3 hours for the first couple times...but then I read some advice to make your battery last. Now depending on usage I can get anymore from 6-17 hours. I also bought then second battery and charger for $30 and keep one battery always charging. So to make my battery last I had to:

    1. Only keep LTE/CDMA on if you know you are in a good 4G area. I have pretty much kept mine on CDMA the whole time now. (Settings >more>mobile networks> CDMA only)

    2. I also try to keep wifi on all time when I am around a wifi signal. And make sure you check that your wifi is on at night if you have wifi in your house. The signal sucks on these things so that will eat your battery in no time just trying to find a signal. There is an option under settings>wifi>settings>advanced>keep wifi on during sleep> always. Now also, whenever I am somewhere that has no wifi, I use the widget and immediately turn it off. Also as a side note, to get faster and better wifi, make sure the wifi frequency band is set to 2.8 ghz only.

    3. Turn off the Bluetooth widget if you aren't using your Bluetooth.

    4. I put the display to auto and turn off after 15 seconds.

    5. I installed a battery widget to get to running apps quicker and force stop anything that is running...most of the time.

    6. I have all my email and Facebook set to either manually sync or sync every hour or more. And I turn off sync at night with the widget and turn it back on in am.

    7. I disabled vibration and sound when using the keypad. In an article it said this was a major source of battery drain...which it was. Huge difference after disabling it,

Ok, I think that's it. But like I said, I got 2-3 hours until I did all this. Now if I am literally on my phone non-stop...which is normal with my job, it may drain in 6 hours, but if I give it a break every now and then, it will last for 17 hours.

    Good luck!

Also, I agree with Volume + from the Amazon app market. I put it on volume #7 first and it was so loud that I had to turn it down to 3. It made all the difference.

About screen rotation, I turned off the window and transition animation scale and it rotates much smoother and faster now. Settings>developer options>window and transition animation scale> animation off.

Storage not on sd card...Google backs up most stuff, then I only get apps that can do a backup. I usually hook it up to save them on my laptop and just move files over. A pain, but whatever. Lol. I also purchased an Eye-fi card for my camera and that sets up my phone to automatically send all my pics from my phone to my laptop. As soon as I snap a pic or video it instantly sends it over, so I never have to worry about moving pics off phone to save them.

And finally...syncmypics worked great for me...but don't enable it to constantly run or that will drain your battery. Also manually if you go to a picture on Facebook and click set as contact photo, you can do that even though it's a pain. Syncmypix was easy and free,

And I don't have a blue line when the camera is on, but I did have some blue stuck pixels and returned that phone and got a new one.

Thread cleaned. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't post anything at all. Also the foul language and name calling stops now. Back on topic.

I installed Volume+ but I have no clue how to use it LOL, it looks like a new language to me. How do I increase my notification and ringtone volume using this? Thanks again!

Oh and that screen transition trick worked. maybe its just my eyes but i swear its a lot faster now lol. thx.

Does the 4G sim card that came with my phone, could that affect my 4G signal in any way? Maybe I ruined it? I remember the directions saying not to touch the gold area or whatever, is it possible I ruined it or have a bad one?

Seems unlikely. The SIM card serves to identify your phone to the network. Verizon will replace it for free if you think the SIM card is bad. If you have another Verizon LTE phone, try swapping the SIM cards and see if that makes a difference.

I have had to sign out of my google accout twice now and sign back in to erase my contacts and reload them. Im not sure if it is a handcent issue or if its an issue on the phone but after sending a txt msgs twice now it has changed the person i sent it to. we im not really sure if it did or not but in the list it had a diff name one time and when i opened the msg it had the right person. just the opposite last time. it had a pic of another contact and still said the original persons name inside the msg. weird.

had this issue in the first couple hours of getting my GN. i noticed it after sending a group text and after some of them replied, i noticed going back into the individual messages and it saying it came from a different person. i deleted the convos and havent noticed anything similar since.

For Volume +, I opened up the settings and changed the volume in the middle and at the bottom to 3, but you can do up to 7. If you start with 7 then you can see the difference and work down. So I set the volume on there and then went to phone settings under sound and changed the phone and notifications there. I kept the phone volume up as high as it could go at first, but it was so loud, I changed volume + down to 3 and kept the volume rocker set to highest. Hope that wasnt confusing. Lol
