Google Music, is there a way to not have it play automatically?
I stream audio in the car and it is usually Pandora or Sirius, each time my bluetooth connects in the car it automatically starts playing the first song in my Google Music Library. Is there a way to stop this from happening so I don't need to go each time to the music app and pause the song to hear what I really want to listen to?

Would love an answer for this. I have had this problem with a Droid X, my wifes Droid Inc 2 and now my Nexus. As soon as its in range of any bluetooth product that its synced to, music starts playing. I can not believe there is not solution for this.

I had exactly the same situation, like you I went looking for an answer but didn't find one. Then, somehow the problem just stopped - I have no idea how. Now when I connect to my car stereo via bluetooth nothing launches (which is how I want it to be).
If I figure out what changed to make it work this way I'll post it here. - 01-03-2012, 09:23 AM #5

I will try that solution but for me I don't stream from google. The music is resident on the phone, I'm only streaming from Pandora and Sirius.

I dont have this issue at all, Does it start playing when you sync with a bluetooth headset as well? Or is it just certain types of bluetooth devices?

Weird, I don't have this problem at all and I use bluetooth streaming all the time. Running stock 4.0.2.
Music Player is version: 4.1.511 - 01-04-2012, 09:25 AM

Same version of player. The phone does the same thing if I put headphones into it as it does when I connect via bluetooth for media streaming. Clicking stream wi-fi only didn't fix the issue.
I would uninstall the program except, Power Amp isn't compatible with Equalizer so I don't have to crank the radio up to 10 to hear any music.

Google Music, the app that never quits!
This has been happening to me a lot. Each time it has been while streaming Pandora with Bluetooth to my car. If I take a phone call, sometimes Pandora resumes as it should. Other times Google Music plays even though it's not showing up in the app list. The only way to stop it is by using the notification control. One time it actually played both Music and Pandora at the same time. - 01-04-2012, 10:31 AM #13
