Im on my 3rd Nexus now. Ive noticed the Mic would cut out while on a phone call with the other person. It happend a few times. I tried togeling the mic, muting and unmuting, nothing works. Sometimes it will return there voice back and sometimes it wont. Hang up and call back and everything is fine again for a while. The person would say they just herd me and it totally stopped. I recall this happening on 2 of the Nexus Ive gotten, and it happend once now on this latest replacement I got. Then I did a search. Ive noticed on XDA they have a thread about it with 4 pages of people complaining about the same issue. Seems to be a software issue, and not hardware.

Anyone else have this going on with there Nexus? It wont happen on every call. Just seems to happen at random. GSM Nexus owners have said its happened to them to. Even with 4.0.3. Then others talked about the Charge having that issue and how they finally got the modem on it right.

Haven't had any issues with the mic cutting out yet but then again, most of my calls were typically no more than ten minutes long max. Does it happen after a certain amount of time into the call?

Seems like that would be something caught during final testing (or before, actually), prior to release.

This is disturbing, if widespread. It is supposed to be a phone, first and foremost, after all.

I myself haven't experienced this behavior, luckily. But, I'm not a heavy voice user (I'm not that phoney, lol)...

Mine did it all the time. Hope they fix it soon. That is the reason I returned mine. I was talking with a woman I like and it cut twice. To bad cuz I like that phone, but my time to return it was up and I had to decide...

Actually I rarely really talk on the phone. I rarely have ever lol. But when I do, I expect the calls to go fine. But its happend to me a few times. Just 20 minutes ago I was on the phone with my father, and it happened about 3 minutes into the call. Then 10 seconds later, he said I came right back in. It was weird. Had it happen when I called an office for an appointment also. Then Called back and she said I hear you now. I was like wtf? So I did some research on this. And noticed a lot of XDA members have noticed the problem and even posted it to Google and Verizon letting them know. Just thought I might chime in and give the heads up and hear from other people who might have had it happen.

Sounds like an issue with the modem, or other software related. When they talked about the Charge having the same issue, they issued a fix and it was good to go. Its crazy to because the call quality is damn near perfect. Crystal clear then there saying, "Hello, You there? Hello!!" and Im like 'WTF!!!" and they never hear it lol

Im on the 3rd Nexus now. Ive noticed it on my second one and now this one. But that wasnt why I returned the phone, it had another issue. But I didnt think anything of it. But once I started researching the issue, I see other people saying the same thing. That sounds software related.

Ive had the issue where Im talking on a call and I can hear the other person fine but they just randomly cannot hear me anymore. Has not happened very often maybe 3 times so I never really thought to much about it. But now that you mention it...yes it happens to me too. First thing I can say is a problem that others are having that I am too.

Guess I'm lucky because it has never happened to me and I make a few long phone calls a week, I make at least one phone call every day.

Do you have Volume+ installed? I didn't have this issue until I installed it. It started right after I loaded the app, so I reset all of the settings back to zero, uninstalled, and have not had the issue for almost two weeks now.

Hmmm. I do have Volume+ installed. Its a definite need since the volume is so low. Weird that you brought that up. Only way to find out if its that app, is to ask other people if they have that app installed. Im gonna ask them on XDA also. Thanks for that heads up.

Edit: Heres a quote from a user on XDA.

I've never installed Volume+, I am staying as Stock 4.02 have not rooted or anything.
And still have this issue almost every other call lasting over 15mins.
I started using bluetooth on it now, I'll keep you guys updated if I still have the issue with bluetooth..

Not enough of a source since everyone else didnt chime in, But that might not be the culprint.

I've had this issue as well. The people that i talk to say it sounds like its "clicking etc"

It seems to happen in non 4g areas for me.

This issue shouldve been, if not already addressed to Google and Verizon. This needs to be fixed. I myself dont talk on the phone that much. But if theres that interview for a job or something of that nature over the phone, and that happens its not going to be pretty.

Call them back and they say, "Sir, we tried to have this intense interview with you and this happend. We have moved onto the next canidate".

:( lol

I think it is a software bug. My calls weren't dropped, but the clicking and mic not working were common on every single call at about 10 min. I remain opened to the device. I ran about 10 ROMs and 4.0.1 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 on it and the issue persisted. Radio and kern changes didn't solve it. At 300 bucks and a two year contract the phone needs to be a phone for me first.

were you using google voice or just regular voice service from verizon? When I was in Denver, I would call my friend via google voice and my voice would cut in and out but I can hear him just fine. I blamed it on his signal strength because my wifi was 100%.

I have the issue every fourth call or so. Wasn't using google voice, don't have volume+ installed.

I am rooted, and running 4.03 Axiom rom.

I had a phone and can't remember which one but nobody could hear me if I was holding the phone left handed. Turned out my left handed hold style was blocking the mic hole, just thought I would add it to the mix.
Oh I just remembered it was a blackberry.
