I played with the GN yesterday for an hour and a half. I really wanted to upgrade ( this was the phone I have been waiting for) but the weak signal strength (which will lead to low battery) issue stopped me.

I had my Charge next to the GN and my charge signal consistently had a much stronger signal. I was able to surf the web with it and still received data (I was in a 3G area) with the low signal, but I am sure the battery will take a beating when the signal strength showed over -100 dBm. My Charge was always -20 dBm lower.

I loved everything about the phone and ICS. This was a deal breaker for me right now until they fix it with a patch or new radio update, I am sticking with my Charge. I follow numerous other forums and websites and there are many threads with the same signal strength complaints and battery issues.

I'm in Indianapolis, and the best I've seen on mine was 2 bars LTE. I'm constantly between 1-2 bars bouncing in and out of LTE. The WiFi signal strength is perfect though.

I guess we have until January 15th for those that are dissatisfied with signal strength. So far this is my only complaint with the phone. Here's hoping a software patch fixes this before January 15...

This is concerning to me as I was thinking of going with the GN.

Mine appears low but it still works pretty well havent had any issues connecting to anything. I had the Rezound and it's actually connecting better than that one was at most times. The signal just looks low.

Might be enough for me to scrap the phone I've been dreaming about for months.

I put my Nexus right next to my Girlfriends Nexus and she got significantly lower signal than what my nexus was getting, I was getting 2 bars 4g and she couldn't even connect to 3g and its just killing her battery at a rate of 10% per hour just sitting in her pocket. I think we are going to exchange it for a new one because something must be wrong with the phone but with my nexus I dont have much of a problem with reception

I live in a dead area. My impression so far is that my reception is exactly the same as on my BB Storm 2.

Im in clarksville just across from Louisville and am pulling down 32Mbps. However from my office and my home i cant get a 4G signal at all. Outside at both locations i can get 4g. Both my office and home are in what verizon told me were solid LTE areas.
Ill wait patiently for an update to see if it improves. If not ill have to try some other phones, since the coverage is available i want it. Otherwise the Nexus is awesome. Oh i also notice the 3g is weaker than my OG Droid or Dx2 in the same locations.

I thought the same thing, my Droid X always had full bars in my room while my GNex has 1-2 bars. But the signal is just about the same -93... only difference is the GNex has 2asu. Oh well still pulls down 1.5mb which is great in Maine :P

What a shame that Verizon consistently releases phones with these problems. I know there will be those who say it's ok, we are beta testers, this is new technology. What BS. Folks you're paying hundreds of dollars, this should work out of the box. If you went to Best Buy and bought the newest HD TV and the HD part didn't work, you would be storming back to the store within minutes demanding a new one or your money back. Amazing that people accept this.

Verizon's own NFL app won't work on their latest and greatest phone? Epic fail! I have the Charge and it had these same app, low signal, and dropping out of 4G issues for months. The long-awaited "fix" finally came just a few weeks ago and the Charge works great now. No problems at all with it. I was going to pony up for the Nexus anyway just because I am one of those early adopters and wanted the ICS. I am in a very marginal 4G area so now the Nexus is definitely out. Why go to something worse? I started thinking, "what the heck is wrong with me that I would pay full retail for a phone that has worse signal strength, no NFL app, and Swype won't work when I now have a perfectly working Charge?"
