The only thing better than 4.0.3 on my Gnex is 4.0.3 on my Xoom! They've both had ROMS for almost a month now. And they're worth it!
If you think someone is being rude its probably because you miss understood them.

Its only on the wifi version. Whats up with that?

4.0.3 is available as a ROM to Nexus owners and has been for a while.

I know its been on roms ive been on them but its still not an official release. What about all the people that dont root thier phones. Im currently not rooted so i would like to ge on 4.0.3. Im just saing that where is it for this phone. I find it weird the this phone is not on it as of now but its on other things. I like my stock phone enough that i dont need a rom.

I see ICS has sped up my Xoom a bit. Honeycomb felt unfinished from the start.

You find it weird because you probably don't know how the update process works. Considering that this phone had an update approved the day before launch, and issued on launch day, it is not remotely surprising that we don't have 4.0.3 yet.

Those other devices? 4.0.3 is where they STARTED with ICS.

We'll get the update soon enough. No need for yet another thread about it.

Then it's not a Nexus phone and I will end up selling mine because the hardware is definitely not the best...

People need to chill. Nobody seems to realize the difference between 4.0.3 with all the other devices even though it should be glaringly obvious...

NONE of the other devices that are getting 4.0.3 updates have radios updates with them. How is that so hard to understand? The latest I could see it coming out is by the end of the month. I mean the phone has barely been out for a month, we've already had one update and people are still going insane.

This right here shows how far the entitlement mentality has come... it's really a shame.

The Xoom is older well known tech w/ most bugs all ironed out (I have one) and so it makes perfect sense that it would get 4.0.3 before the Gnex which is new tech that still has bugs that are being worked on.

I would think that this phone would get things like this first being a nexus phone. I do think it will be this month and thats why im not rooted at the moment. And im sorry for making yet another thread on this. Just sharing thoughts. I would think this phone would be on 4.0.4 buy now. Ya i know its only a month old but man i love this phone and i want it to kick ****.

Yeah that sucks but at least I know it's not far away, now that the wifi model is getting it. I can't wait to see how it is on the Xoom.

Well the Xoom was Google's choice as a hardware reference for Honeycomb, and it's a stock device. In a way, the Xoom is like a Nexus device so it doesn't surprise me it would get ICS quickly. Keep in mind the 3G/4G Xoom hasn't been officially updated to ICS yet.

While being a Nexus has the advantage in no third party manufacturer UI mucking up the works, it's also a mass consumer device with specific hardware and radios that requires testing and verification which can be a lengthy process. That means Google isn't going to pump out updates on a weekly basis (although they could, it just wouldn't be very wise.)

do we really want an update that has bugs of it's own? especially with the aforementioned radio? I'd rather wait until they test it as thoroughly as possible on the VZ Genex,so we don't have to clamor for 4.04..

The whole point of a Nexus phone (at least the way I understood it) is that Google provides the updates directly without the carrier getting involved and slowing things up. If Verizon gets involved and we have to wait for their testing, then the phone is no different than a Razr, Rezound, etc. in my book.

If the above were true, then Google wouldn't be talking about developing their own tablet.

It's only being delayed because Verizon wants to put its own stuff in.

The ones complaining about the the carrier being involved an upgrade are the first ones to raise Holy Hell when a release comes out and the radio doesn't work properly with the carrier's netowk.

You can't have it both ways. Either you have all parties that develop for the product involved in a release upgrade or you risk some parts not working together properly.

I suspect that Google "own tablet" will be developed by Google's Motorola Mobility Division. Same division that made the Xoom.

What people seem to forget is that the 4.0.3 upgrade for the XOOM is for wifi only version. No carrier involved. It's much easier to bring out an upgrade that won't be used to dial 911 with somebody's life on the line.

Would you want your phone to brick just as you dial 911 and then have Google say, "Well, hell, we were pressured to rush this thing out and we didn't consult with the carrier before pushing out the release. After all, this is a Nexus device and we don't need to consult with Verizon. Sorry for your trouble buddy, but we'll send flowers to your grave site."
