    Question Rich Text Attachments Missing

When receiving an email that is formatted as "HTML" or "Plain Text", I receive the attachment just fine. When I receive an email that is formatted "Rich Text" the attachment is missing. If you forward the email you will see the attachment, but can't open it.

We are seeing it on the HTC Droid Incredible, HTC Droid Incredible 2, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus using the stock email application. We are running Exchange 2008 and Outlook 2010.

See attached screenshots so you can see what I am talking about.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Can someone else verify this on other phones?

With a little bit of googling, I'm going to say that this is an issue accross all mobile platforms with no fix other than to have the recipient email the attachment again in either plain text or HTML format.

    Source:
Yes, I know it's an Apple source, but with it occurring on 3 different android phones as well it's enough to make me believe its cross-platform.

    Edit: Also:
Specifically the line stating "Files on RTF format are not compatible with device"

I could look for more but I'm going to assume that will be enough.

    Thanks for the reply.

We have an iPhone 4s here and have tested this, but it works fine on that platform. I'm not sure if that is an up to date article or not.

I wonder why certain devices have chosen to leave out rich text formatted email attachments as being supported?

RTF is a Microsoft Windows proprietary format. Some operating systems (like iOS) support it better than Android (one of Microsoft's arch rivals). Color me surprised.
