Is there a way to make the camera silent? I don't see it in the settings anywhere and I'd like to get rid of the noises when I'm taking pictures.

I replaced the cameraclick.ogg file with an empty mp3 file.
You have to have root to do that though.
Thanks. That's annoying that they don't give you the option to silence it though. Guess I'm going to have to look for a quieter camera app.Quote:

just make sure your phone media volume is silent. no root needed.
I turned the volume on the phone off (down past vibrate) thinking that would do it, but no such luck.Quote:

if you have something like tasker (great app btw) you can easily set up a profile for this.
i have media volume go all the way down when camera is running....no camera sounds :)
You can also just rename it to cameraclick.ogg.bakQuote:

That's because your turning your ringer volume down when you do that. You have to turn your media volume all the way down to not here the camera. Easiest way is to do it while in the camera app.Quote:

on my phone the volume of the camera couldn't turn down by clicking the vol down button - it is setting my ringer volume...
but i've tricked it by pressing the vol down button on the moment of taking the snapshot... and it vibrates, but doesn't make a sound! (yay) :) :D
There are a few ways to do this.
1) Turn down the media volume while using the Camera app.
2) Root your device and install a camera app with an option to disable the sound.
3) Root your device and replace the sound file it plays.
You should be aware, however, that in some places there are laws regarding recording devices that do not audibly indicate shutter actions.
But then girls would know I'm taking up skirt shots of them....

Before the newest update it was the media volume that you had to turn down, now when you turn down the volume in the camera app it is the ringer volume but it still works the same. While in camera app just turn volume all the way down using the volume button and no sound when taking pictures.
PS: If you are doing this to take creeper shots, make sure your flash is off too LOL
Not really the kind of humor we go for here.Quote:

Sorry, made a comment and I didn't pay attention to the device type. Can't delete my own post it seems.
As others have said, international type devices are supposed to not have the shutter sounds removable due to it being against the laws of some countries.
