Is there a way to silence the camera?
Is there a way to make the camera silent? I don't see it in the settings anywhere and I'd like to get rid of the noises when I'm taking pictures.

Re: Is there a way to silence the camera?
just make sure your phone media volume is silent. no root needed.

Re: Is there a way to silence the camera?
on my phone the volume of the camera couldn't turn down by clicking the vol down button - it is setting my ringer volume...
but i've tricked it by pressing the vol down button on the moment of taking the snapshot... and it vibrates, but doesn't make a sound! (yay)

Re: Is there a way to silence the camera?
There are a few ways to do this.
1) Turn down the media volume while using the Camera app.
2) Root your device and install a camera app with an option to disable the sound.
3) Root your device and replace the sound file it plays.
You should be aware, however, that in some places there are laws regarding recording devices that do not audibly indicate shutter actions.Represent yourself well; you never know what might happen. And try out the new Android Central app!

Re: Is there a way to silence the camera?
Before the newest update it was the media volume that you had to turn down, now when you turn down the volume in the camera app it is the ringer volume but it still works the same. While in camera app just turn volume all the way down using the volume button and no sound when taking pictures.
PS: If you are doing this to take creeper shots, make sure your flash is off too LOL - 12-10-2012, 10:48 PM #15Thanked by:

Re: Is there a way to silence the camera?
Sorry, made a comment and I didn't pay attention to the device type. Can't delete my own post it seems.
As others have said, international type devices are supposed to not have the shutter sounds removable due to it being against the laws of some countries.
