Yeah I am really surprised and feel bad for you. I got mine opening day and got a perfect one. I have no data issues whatsoever and the screen is perfect and I checked it with the LCD screen test app and not a single imperfection in sight! No I am not trying to rub it in lol just letting you know they make good one somewhere lol

This damn phone is cursed for me. I finally finally had the chance to call Asurion again today. Didn't have the second device on me. Borrow a relative's phone to call in the issue and what do I do? Drop the damn thing on the driveway STILL IN THE FREAKING PLASTIC DEVICE BAG AND DING THE BACK. So another $99 bucks to replace the already defective phone. The one that comes tomorrow better be delivered by a damn unicorn traveling on a cloud with a pristine spotless displace. Mother of troy I've had it. Kept the Fascinate frickin' pristine and I literally CANNOT GO A MONTH without doing something to the phone or it having problems.

I give me AC comerades free license to chuckle at my misfortune between my butter fingers and the seemingly impossible quest to have an issueless life with this phone.

wow, that sucks. the pics shown are not typical at all. i did the LCD test as well, and nothing showed up.

the only problem i have with this display is when watching dark videos, the blacks in videos get some purple/blue distortion when to start to get close to something bright. hardly noticeable in brighter viewing conditions.

but i dont have any problem with solid black images showing as solid black.

That LCD test didn't show anything for me, but I have noticed some spots in the dark before. Thankfully nothing as bad as what you have (sorry!) but it still bugs me.

I have noticed this on mine as well. Only in a pitch black room and usually while I am in CWM I have some darker spots on the screen. It is almost like your eyes are playing tricks on you. If your room has any type of light in it you won't even see it.

Also, I think people need to realize your picture is showing a negative photo. I am sure it wasn't noticeable like that on a black screen, was it?

I'm fairly confident that to find a GN with absolutely objectively confirmed 0 specks/marks on a 0-0-0 RGB background would be like finding a needle in a haystack. This is just the way the technology is unfortunately.

I'm not saying I'm satisfied with it, but this seems to be the trade-off of having a 720p AMOLED screen at this time. Maybe in a few years when we are all up for new phones there will be a 720-1080p SAMOLED+ phone that won't suffer from these symptoms. Until then you have to ask yourself, "do ya feel lucky punk" and if you don't well, just accept it and don't take the risk swapping phones and ending up with something far worse.

Also, I have some dark spots, however they are not sporadic dots. They are extremely reminiscent of LCD image-retention. It appears to be bright white outlines from my lockscreen, likely burned in when the screen was on and charging.

Do yourselves a favor, DO NOT I repeat, DO NOT enable "Stay Awake" in the developer options. I am fairly certain its because of this that I now have my lockscreens white outlines (lock ring and top bar) burned into my screen and it IS visible in any dark room on a dark background. Curse you Samsung This phone could have been absolute perfection.

The photo is not a negative but a long exposure photo. It looks like tricks on the eyes in the first one - it would not have been that bad in the first replacement had there not been a black dot near the soft keys. The second was HIGHLY noticeable on any of the settings or dark panels. It was also yellow with a burn in. New one arrives on Monday. I wonder if the update will actually turn the pixels off - there is still a charge through panel causing the light to emit. If the next one isn't bad, I'll keep it. But there should be a clear coating and applied with an even spray.

So wait, those black dots are showing on what color background? You said it was black but the photo did not look black?

They are on a black background. But a long exposure photograph is where the camera takes in more light to take a picture. This is more light that the human eye can absorb in a sitting. The dots do not give off any light at all. the screen is still lit to a degree.

The second photo, you can see the dots on different backgrounds, but I just used the same method to capture the problem I'm having. The first phone the dots were not so pronounced.

Got the replacement today. Failed the test. I had hopes since there was no discoloration in the screen. But lo, a long line of black blotch in the middle. A few dots here and there. Infinitely better than #2, a tad less noticeable from #1, since there weren't dots speckling it everywhere. Wondering if I should even bother returning it - banding is noticeable but not bothersome. I MISS MY PHONE. Wondering if I should write Samsung just for the hell of it - not expecting anything but you know, jus sayin. Thoughts?
