Tune-In Radio Problems
So I don't know if this a phone, operating system, or an app problem, but I'm guessing it's more likely the app.
Anyone here use Tune-In Radio? Galaxy Nexus is my first smartphone, so I didn't have an experience with this app before. I like to use Tune-In radio to listen to podcasts.
Now, most of the time, the podcast will play ok from the beginning, but sometimes it says buffering 0% and it stays there forever. I notice the load time when starting a podcast from the beginning is usually very short. When I try to fast-forward to the middle of a podcast, it freezes. Sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn't, and some I can't move to the middle, I have to listen to the entire podcast (even if I already listened to half, and stopped it and tried to listen to the rest later).
This program seems really finicky, but would be perfect if it worked right. Anyone else having these problems? - 02-24-2012, 12:58 AM #2

Re: Tune-In Radio Problems
I agree. I never listen to podcasts really at all. But the Radio Stations I have listened to on TuneIn havent given me any cut out problems. I use it almost everyday at the Gym. And thats letting it stream over 3G. More then likely the source.
Just swapped out the Xoom Tablet for an IPhone. I never ever thought I would get an IPhone. Im currently eating my words. Apple has a lot going on here....Im loving both platforms. - 03-19-2012, 02:09 AM #4
Re: Tune-In Radio Problems
I have the same problem while listening to TuneIn podcasts on my gnex. Within 30 seconds of the screen turning off, the podcast will stop playing, and start re-filling the buffer once the screen is turned on.
The only workaround I have determined is to keep the screen from shutting off, either by changing the phone settings, or using the app in "car mode," which does not turn the screen off.
Other than a few inconveniences, I love the app! - 03-19-2012, 02:19 AM #5
I agree about it most likely being the source. I try listening to radio 1 and it never buffers. It doesn't even play it just says "opening" . Most of the ones I listen to work fine though. I use double twist for podcasts that don't work on tune in. Its great to but it has a tendency to stop and then I have to fast forward to get to where I left off. Kind of annoying.

Re: Tune-In Radio Problems
This is a known bug with GNEX that wi-fi shuts off when the screen turns off. Happens with Tune In, Slacker, everything, except oddly enough....Google Music.
There are many threads on Google support site about this. I encourage everyone to add your own experience as well.
Very frustrating indeed...... - 03-19-2012, 05:46 PM #7

That is great news! I hope they update soon. I may try and see if they do the same for me.

Re: Tune-In Radio Problems
I use tune in to listen to a few music stations. I have the same issue. I found it happens only when the screen is off. Select in tune ins options to disable screen lock. It uses a ton of battery because the screen is on while the app is running but the stream will actually buffer and not stall. Its am app issue happens on all the stations I've tried.

Re: Tune-In Radio Problems
Tune-in stopped working for me recently. It starts buffering but never gets there. Moreover, I tried uninstalling it, to reinstall, to see if that would help, and it won't uninstall. My phone is a HTC OneX. I use it just to listen to live radion, mostly Dutch Classic FM. Classic FM has an app, which I downloaded, and, oddly, the same thing happens. It buffers forever and never plays. No problem with other radio apps. Any ideas please?
