Isn't the wallpaper resolution 1440 x 1280 or something like that? Why the difference?

yea.. wallpapers are usually larger to allow for wallpaper scrolling between multiple home screens.

For some reason I find 1920x1200 resolution wallpapers always have crisper details.. probably overkilling it but I took some of my computer wallpapers and applied them and they look better than the regular res wallpapers..

you can't get the full image to show, so you have to crop the best part of the image, but the detail is the best.

On any Android phone, the wallpaper is always the height of your phone by two times the width.

For example, the Galaxy Nexus would be [720x2] x [1280] or 1440x1280.

The Galaxy S II would be [480x2] x [800] or 960x800.

Yes, it scrolls through fine.. images are crisp. You only need the 2x resolution images if you want the full image to show between screens.. if you don't care, and just want to crop part of a high res image, I use 1920x1200
