Nexus S gets 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4!?! Wheres the love?
I know rumors are April for a 4.0.5 release and we did see a 4.0.4 leak, but the Galaxy Nexus is supposed to be Google's flagship phone now. It seems like the Nexus S has the priority right now, but why would that be? How much of an official release is carrier specific?
Just not feeling very loved right now... - 03-28-2012, 03:57 PM #2

I guess I broke the first rule of "leak" club?
I asked about it and an hour later it was announced

mind you this incremental update released today is only for those Nexus S owners who have ICS, majority of Nexus S owners are in the same boat as NS4G owners. But my guess is it will be pushed out soon to all of us.

Re: Nexus S gets 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4!?! Wheres the love?
I have had 4.0.4 since the leak hit and its been great. I think one of the reasons someone would think about getting a Gnex is that it is very easy to upgrade and apply any update google pushes out without waiting for OEMs to develope thier version of it. this is why i could care less if its not official, we have the ability to appy it anyways.

The other issue is that the official 4.0.2 doesn't play well with accessories, specifically docks. Because of this, Samsung isn't pushing out accessories. An official update is pretty important if we want to see OEM docks, etc.

4.0.4 is now available for the galaxy nexus.

Who cares? I mean, really. We know an update is coming. Why waste your energy complaining?

I think its safe to say 4.0.5 could very much come next month, mainly for CDMA devices.
So many phones, so little time. - 03-29-2012, 09:06 AM #18
We get no love on the CDMA side

Re: Nexus S gets 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4!?! Wheres the love?
Good for them. I love seeing the older Nexus phones getting updates and being taken care of. One of the major reasons I wanted a GNEX. I haven't had any issues so I'm fine to wait patiently. If I did, or I get antsy, I'll root

Interesting point someone made about the accessories. I don't use any (case/charger), but never understood why they don't want to take the people's money who would. - 03-29-2012, 10:29 AM #20

Re: Nexus S gets 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4!?! Wheres the love?
In a sense, updates to the Nexus line is still faster than any other OEM phones with there custom UI.
Now, if VZW was strictly GSM based we would be getting the update as well and not have to wait on VZW.
Also, if VZW was GSM based we could take the AOSP and build it ourselves and install it on our phones, but since we are not GSM, but have the CDMA Nexus we don't have access to the CDMA binaries, but VZW and Samsung do.
Soon, Sprint GN customers will be in the boat as are. - 03-29-2012, 11:20 AM #22

Re: Nexus S gets 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4!?! Wheres the love?
I love how people get so worked-up over an update that doesn't even really change much of anything.
The one annoying part is that when there is a major update the VZW version won't receive the update initially.
I think this will be my last Verizon phone. I almost never talk on the phone anymore and with wifi available almost everywhere it doesn't make sense to pay more for phones/service with there are better choices. - 03-29-2012, 12:14 PM #25
Re: Nexus S gets 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4!?! Wheres the love?
or Google for that matter, at least officially. Most of that talk came from avid fans. Regardless, Google has said time and time again that they will still support the CDMA Galaxy Nexus (which means updating it when possible). Unfortunately, there are still hurdles they have to jump through in order to get it out to us.
On another note, the leaked 4.0.4 is an earlier build. Whatever CDMA/Verizon users will get will surely be an updated build of 4.0.4 (if not 4.0.5) which will probably contain more fixes.
