Nova is my launcher of choice. Tried Apex before and thought it was buggier than Nova. I'm sure there's been an update or two since I last tried it but I tend to stay with what works and what I'm comfortable with. For me, Nova is great!

Have you had any problems with scrollable Widgets while gestures are set up? When I was using apex, I set it for a gesture down brought down the notifications. But every scrollable widget wouldn't scroll properly. Other than that, apex was pretty awesome.

Re: Nova Launcher???
Tried both. Nova is good but seemed to cause a little lag after a while. After the last update for Apex, its the winner for me - my only complaint for Apex (which Nova does have) is not being able to shuffle around the order of the homescreens from the preview view.

I remember reading about a solution to ARE re draw problems once, had something to do with application priority our something I think. Basically the OS wasn't allowing ADW to stay in memory I think, so it had to reload things a lot. Wish I could remember where I read the solution.

Re: Nova Launcher???
You can force the homescreen to remain 1st priority in the cache memory. There is a thread about it somewhere in rootzwiki, i will try to find it.
Some roms have this built in - namely, axiom roms. This way you keep homescreen as first priority, however it is at the expense of other things sometimes, which can cause other screens to redraw somewhat more often. It's something of a trade off generally.

Re: Nova Launcher???
Yes, Nova and Apex can be run without root. You don't need to uninstall it to stop using it, just remove it's default launcher status in the settings and you can return to the stock launcher as your default.

Re: Nova Launcher???
OK...so I have stock launcher on my GNex with Folder Organizer installed, and I have made customized labels with customized icons. Further, I added the 4 x 1 widget to my homescreen which scrolls through all my customized labels to launch apps, etc. I think this is one of the main features with Apex and Nova, and was wondering if I have already done this is it still worth switching to an alternative launcher, or do these launchers really add a lot more you just dont realize using the stock launcher?

Re: Nova Launcher???
Yeah but nova launcher prime IMHO is not worth 4.00.
I still find it extremely buggy and the occasional FC. - 04-19-2012, 08:51 AM #44
I don't have any bugs/lag/fc/etc with nova. I'm not stock either though, so it may just be that.
