So just what do you expect from your battery?
My Gnex is stock, I run a few widgets, listen to a little music now and then, and surf the forums and the web.
On the stock battery I get about 21 hours of up time with screen on time of between 3 and 4 hours, and about 24 up time with the stock extended.
To me that's pretty acceptable.
Just curious what everyone else thinks is acceptable battery life for a dual core phone with a screen this size.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I get about 18 or so hours on the stock battery before I put the phone down for a charge, normally with around 20% battery remaining or so. Granted, My screen on time is about 1.5 to 2 hours on average per day. I also have a car charger and a travel charger on hand when I go to work, but I dont normally find myself using them unless I REALLY work my phone during the day.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I get around 10 on extended battery but I'm a heavy user and I can charge the phone during the day so it works for me. We don't have 4g yet but I assume the battery will get worse whenever we get it.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I can get through a whole day (12 hours) with 3-4 hours of on screen time on the extended battery. If i'm on the phone for 60-90 min its closer to 3, if i'm not i get closer to 4.
In a perfect world i would love 5 hours of on screen, 2 hours talk time with 18 hours standby. Im sure it would be possible with a 3800 battery, but i'm not about to sacrifice the phones slim profile for the extra time. I can always power up somewhere if i know ill be using that heavy. - 04-15-2012, 11:47 PM #6

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
i have a charger available everywhere and a spare battery as well. as long as i can get like 10 hours out of her i am fine with the battery life.
20+ hours is REALLY good on wireless network. i could see that on wifi all day, but on even 3g that is really good. - 04-16-2012, 10:06 AM #8
Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
Depending on usage / area signal strength (or lack thereof) / other misc. factors... I can get anywhere from 6 hours to 30 in up time on one charge, lol. I'd say it averages around 12ish... but like most intelligent commenters have said, I just bring a charger if I think there's a chance I'll need it. Battery life is good, not a big concern at all.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
On Wi-Fi, I get great battery life, but it is diminished significantly when I am on the Verizon network. Specifically when I am work I am lucky to get 4-5 hours with minimal use before having to plug into an outlet. Standard battery and stock ROM.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I only get 2-2.5 hours screen on with the stock extended 2100 mah.
That's with auto brightness, LTE on, BT on, wifi off. I do use a lot of data, which is probably why it's so low.
I would love 4 hours of screen on over a 12 hours period. - 04-16-2012, 11:46 AM #11

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
After about 15 hours and 2-3 hours of screentime I'm at about 40% most days. I'm on WiFi and 3g, not 4g. I thing that's quite acceptable. This battery is similar to the old HTC Incredible even with the bigger screen.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I'm running stock ICS and standard battery and I'm lucky to get about 10-12 hours with 2-3 hrs of screen on.
I can't beleive the battery life some of you are getting. <-- must be WiFi b/c i'm on LTE all day. - 04-16-2012, 03:23 PM #14
Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I hoping to get a full day of use from it.
- 04-16-2012, 03:33 PM #15
Yup. Being on wifi conserves a lot more then Lte. Switch to 3g if your not using your data all the time and you will also see a big difference.
I'm probably on 4g 3 hours a day or less just because the wifi is faster where I usually am. If I am on LTE all day my battery life drops considerably. - 04-16-2012, 03:56 PM #16
Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I think I have a lemon GN, maybe you guys can give me your opinion. When I first purchased my GN from Costco I would get about 14 hrs with moderate use and 20-40% at the end of the day. I unlocked my phone but have left it stock or i run the non-root Nova launcher. Even from the first week of owning my GN I have had random reboots, lockups requiring battery removal, shutdowns (rarely), cpu running very hot so that phone calls longer than a couple of minutes are very uncomfortable and finally the battery will only last about 7 hours with minimal use. I am usually on wifi all day at work and only txt with the occasional short phone call.
Today I had 7hrs before the battery was at like 2%;
29% OS
23% Phone Idle
21% Screen for a total of 10 mins
17% Standby

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
wow, that is pretty bad.... your phone wasnt even awake much.. Id guess a bad battery...
one other issue ive seen (personally on my own phone), is that the phone doesnt actually know the battery's charge.... It would drop to 10% in an hour or two.... but then last another 4hrs after that....
have you tried letting it run till it dies? - 04-16-2012, 05:05 PM #20

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I could no longer take the stock battery, I run Stock ICS, phone gets plugged in at about 10pm, sleep and unplug by 5am to start the day. I was finding myself using the car charger between jobs, plugging in a AC adapter what ever it took to keep some life on it. I bought a seido 3800 I still have 24% left.
It is the one thing I miss most about my BB, the battery lasted a long time.
How do you take a picture of your battery profile to post? I have a lot of awake time and would like to figure out what keeps waking the phone.
Thanks! - 04-16-2012, 08:00 PM #22

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I expect a phone to go a full day with minimal use. It would be nice if the phone had enough juice left on it at the end of the day (when you would plug it in, for me that's when I crawl into bed) that I could deal with an emergency without my phone dieing.

Re: So just what do you expect from your battery?
I'd like to see 3+ hours of screen on time. What I get is 2.5 hours of screen on time with the extended (2100mH) and just about 2 with the stock battery. I opt to charge the phone in the afternoon so I have juice for the evening. I do have spare batteries though, just in case.
Here's an example of a day with lots of music for me: Up time is 6h 48 min and I have 29% battery left. Screen on time is 59min and media server has been going for 2h 7min. This is with the 2100mH battery too.Last edited by Wookie Claws; 04-17-2012 at 03:00 PM.
