People, location DOES NOT MATTER. Updates are sent out by ESN.

Not here in Pittsburgh. Was in a VZW store last night and checked store model. It was on 4.0.2.

Lol. I wish that Verizon were actually that thorough. They have really shown how bad THEY (VZW) is at updates with the Nexus. Pretty sure we won't get another Nexus on VZW.
I wonder what the excuse will be when LTE is the standard, and CDMA is gone?

Wasn't an argument. Was a question. With CDMA being so locked down, if LTE is the same then doesn't that mean there will be no more Nexus? If google can't sign off on a CDMA unit, what would make me think they could do it on anyone's LTE if it is as locked down as you say?

It doesn't mean anything of the sort.
And isn't GSM being faded out over time? In favor of LTE? Again if LTE is locked up I am guessing it is the end if the Nexus.
Just got off the phone with VZW tech. I was reporting random *22899 dialing. She put me on hold to contact Samsung for a solution. She came back and said Samsung told her this is one of several known issues that will be corrected with a software update "this month." She couldn't be more specific than that with timing. It sounded like Samsung knew more about the update timing than VZW though. Only a couple weeks left of this month... I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: Is the 4.0.4 ota out yet
Samsung does know more about the timing because in this case they are the ones who will be pushing it out. As my friend who work level two tech puts it. Verizon is looking forward to another nexus but they are not going ahead with samsung because since the introduction of LTE samsung phones (in particular radios) have caused them a lot of problems. He said they are most likely going to work with HTC. (grain of salt though i know him)
In other matters, he said that VZW has been putting fire under samsung to get this update fixed for the GN but they were dragging their heels. He says sometimes it takes a lot of push and pull to finally get them to address issues. He did say though that samsung submitted a build for testing which he is hoping is approved as he has a GN with some of the same issues. He said samsung had promised them a build sooner but it hopes to be out of the gate by some point this month. - 05-14-2012, 01:56 PM #43
Re: Is the 4.0.4 ota out yet
All i've been reading on here is,
"i had spoken to vzw level tech 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5... he/she said its google's fault for not releasing the update..."
"Its not google's fault. but its vzw's.."
"Its not google or vzw. But its Samsung's"..
Its almost the end of May. We've all heard all the excuses in the world. If you want the latest and greatest update, go unlock and root your phone and stop complaining.
If you don't want to root your phone, then you have no choice but to patiently wait till vzw/google/samsung is ready for the release of .4
And if you do not what to do that, then junk the nexus and go blow another $400 on a new android or Apple. There are tons of options out there for you. - 05-14-2012, 02:41 PM #44
Re: Is the 4.0.4 ota out yet
my roommate has a "developer phone" GN since he works in mobile apps and he already has 4.04 as it was pushed directly from google. I think it is pretty clear that this is VZ's fault.
with that being said, I am very tired of waiting and have a bad taste in my mouth for VZ and Samsung - 05-14-2012, 02:45 PM #45
Re: Is the 4.0.4 ota out yet
I hope all the complainers leave and get another phone. PLEASE!
But, then this forum would devoid of any action and there'd be no reason to come here any more.Droid (2009 original stock) --> Incredible --> Thunderbolt (Rooted/ROMed) --> Galaxy Nexus (Rooted/ROMed) --> Note 2 (stock) - 05-14-2012, 04:43 PM #46

But don't you say here that LTE is locked down more than CDMA is. Hence LTE across the board will have the same unsignable issues we have with current CDMA carriers? Or am I reading too much into what you posted.
Reason why I ask is if everyone will be lte on my next phone purchase and none of the phones are updated by google without carrier tampering what's the advantage? I can get a Sammy or HTC and unlock and flash custom all day. I prefer clean updates.

These phones where meant to be unlocked and rooted, and that's what I did when I first got my Nexus. I flashed AOKP Rom (on the latest ICS 4.04) and the popular Franco. Kernel. This phone is amazing under these settings, simply amazing.
