OK I've had it....this phone is awesome!!!!!
So after reading the few "this phone is junk" threads, I decided to start my own.
I think this phone is awesome. Even on 4.0.2, I have not had any issues with signal strength, 3g/4g hand off, reboots, poor battery life, screen issues...it just works...and works well.
Granted, my phone is now unlocked, rooted, and customized. But, I do that because I want to, and not because I need to. I like hacking stuff. Its fun for me. Plus, my now bloat-free, OC/UV, streamline OS phone now runs even better than before.
Even without the hacking, this has been the best device I've owned. And I've sampled many popular OS's on different makes. BB, iPhone, Windows, Symbian, HTC, Samsung, LG....all in all, I like it. But, that's my opinion. YMMV blah, blah...
Edit: there are plenty of threads expressing the negatives people have been experiencing with this phone. If you feel negatively still, go to those threads.Last edited by mr.wizard; 05-12-2012 at 09:19 AM.

Same, I've had ZERO issues with my phone. Except of coarse I dropped it and theres some dents on the plastic casing, lucky not the screen!

re: OK I've had it....this phone is awesome!!!!!
I just got my nexus this past monday and i'm loving it as well, it's just so much of a smoother experience than my droid 3 was! i have noticed the signal cut off randomly sometimes, but luckily I don't talk too much on my phone so it just annoyed me a bit while doing something with data (out of the two total phone calls i've had since i got it, 1 was crystal clear and smooth as butter and the other had some issues that i don't know who was at fault) but like I imagine other people still running stock 4.0.2, I am hitting that 'check for updates' button a lot, but that's because i'm an update freak

re: OK I've had it....this phone is awesome!!!!!
I've had no problems with my phone, but I would prefer a little longer battery life. I find myself reaching for the charger several times a day, and it is getting a little annoying. However, I am rooted, but am running stock 4.0.2. Havn't experienced random reboots like other users have, but I do also experience a slower 3G/4G transition time.

Love this thread. Welcome view instead of them hate threads.
Even though I root, rom and mod my phone, I do it for fun. But that in NO way diminishes the functionality. In fact it enhances it GREATLY!
The user experience is a night and day difference from stock.
I am on my one phone from launch day and it's perfect.

Re: OK I've had it....this phone is awesome!!!!!
I also love this phone. You can't make everyone happy I guess. I've had this phone since day one, release day, and haven't had one issue. If you are complaining about battery life, that's what you get with any LTE phone, on any network, anywhere. And comparing this LTE phone to others with the same battery size, this phone does very well. The OS is so much more ahead of any other OS, in my opinion and is plenty fast. Sorry if you are one of the unlucky few who received a bum phone but I'm sure you all may be the <1% of total owners. This phone rocks.

Re: OK I've had it....this phone is awesome!!!!!
Thanks for starting this thread. The endless carping about this amazing device is getting tiresome.
My phone is stock. I've had it about 3 months now. It's the only one I've had. Sure, the signal is a little weaker than my old Fascinate but I don't have to pull the battery a couple of times a day to reboot it. I've had a few sudden reboots on the GNex recently but I'm convinced it's because of some silly app I shouldn't have installed. I just haven't isolated it yet.
I'm sure the 4.0.4 update will fix the radios. I'm not tempted to root. I like the stock experience fine.
For me the advent of LTE has changed how I run my life. I've dumped my ISP at home and tether at a much higher speed. (I have unlimited data.) ICS is simply too much fun. With the extended battery the phone lasts me all day.
I discovered the barometer the other day. WTF? I couldn't wait to brag about it to my friend who just got his new 4S. Of course he's convinced the 4 stands for 4G.
Gotta love the fanbois. They have no idea what they're missing.Thanked by 2: - 05-12-2012, 04:43 PM

Re: OK I've had it....this phone is awesome!!!!!
Alright, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes this phone lol
After reading the responses in this thread (and a few in other threads), I had few questions as to why others have not had such good luck with this phone. Perhaps a little brain-storming in a positive environment will bring some answers.
Is there a certain batch of Gnexii that had actual defects with them?
Could signal issues be actual issues with towers being upgraded/maintained? (4G or otherwise)
What are people with good phones doing that others with "bad" phones are not? (Besides rooting/being proactive IMO)
When can I haz "official" update? (Seriously, just kidding with this one)Thanked by: - 05-12-2012, 05:20 PM #19
I am so on board with you. Got mine on launch day, within 12 hours (darn work) I had it unlocked and rooted. After flashing a bajillion ROM/kernel combos, I've found that I can get 15 hours of use with 2 hours screen on time with whatever the latest version of AOKP is out with leanKernel (also the latest exp). I've run the G1, Cliq (what was I thinking?), Nexus One, and Thunderbolt, and my GNex is by far the best phone I've ever owned.
And I am with you on rooting. I don't do it because I HAVE to, I do it because I CAN. It isn't truly yours until you break it, and I've broken mine a few times, lol.
I'm glad to finally see some positive posts about this amazing piece of hardware showing up.

I love my gnex and its working flawlessly for me. The new 4.0.4 radios have actually improved my signal tremendously and now get no less then 3 4g bars where before I was getting 1-2.
Maybe not everyone is lucky to have these radios fix their issues but it sure as hell fixed my only issue with this phone.
Plus with Francos kernel, setCPU and juice defender battery life has never been better

This is a shameless post to bump this to the top. I really would like this thread to outshine all the hate threads.
Can you tell I freaking love this phone?
