swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
what you guys prefer for your galaxy nexus? swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
just installed swiftkey 3 and loving it
much faster and easier than the default ICS keyboard
i haven't tried swype beta yet though...
should i switch to swype beta or stick with swiftkey 3?
i wanna hear your pros and cons on them
any new features that you favor over the other?
how much faster can you type on what keyboard?
what about voice dictation?
how is auto correct/predication working out for you?
thanks!
cheers! - 06-24-2012, 02:39 PM #2
Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
The new Swype beta is the bee's knees. From what I gather, they really put some effort into word prediction and making it smoother. So far it's working out great, but I've only been on Swype for about 2 weeks (SK 3 user before that).

Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
i've been switching between these two keyboards for a long time but i've mostly used Swype because it was always faster and more accurate for me. i have to say that with the recent Swiftkey 3 update, i haven't really used Swype much at all. the real-time auto-correction in Swiftkey 3 is insanely accurate, they put back the comma key as it should be, and they now have a theme that i like. i don't use the predictions but they are pretty spot on too. still, if you haven't tried Swype, it is very good and you need to sign up and download it at Swype's web site because it is a unique experience.

Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
I have both and I will say the Dragon Go voice dictation in Swpe is great...tho currently I am using Swiftkey 3 as overall I tend to type better on it.

Just started using Swype beta and it is sweet!
Didn't really appreciate swiftkey asking me to upgrade all the time - 06-24-2012, 07:35 PM #7
Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
Hey there! First post on the forums so lemme throw my two cents in here. Personally I find the Swype Beta to be MUCH better than swiftkey. I've been using Swype pretty much since i've gotten my phone and have no complaints at all. It's free as well so you can't beat that!

I have used Swype for about a year, on my x10i and now on my One x. Upgraded recently to the new Beta and I must say, it is awesome! You can type, speak, write and Swype all in the same keyboard. Plus I feel that sliding your finger over letters is much faster than typing them, even if the prediction engine of SK is said to be highly accurate.

Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
I agree with what everyone's saying here about SwiftKey 3. It is really quite excellent, and I prefer it over Swype.
Just some advice: try both out yourself - keyboard preference, like most things, is a very subjective thing. And when you do try them out, go with each one for at least a full day. Work through it and then decide which one you like. I did that with SwiftKey and was happy and satisfied that at the end of 2 days I knew exactly why I like SwiftKey better. - 06-24-2012, 09:26 PM #11
I loved Swype since i had it on the original droid. When it was not available for my GNex, I switched to Swiftkey and then the beta of 3. It was pretty good and i did fine with it. But last week i went back to Swype when they released their latest update and i truly love it. Much better than previous betas. I just prefer to Swype than tap.

Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
currently using the new Swype beta and its amazing. before sywpe was good for plain english but failed when it came to strange names and slang as it would not recognize the words but now the tapping on the swype key board is vastly improved. it pops up the letters like on an iphone. I think swype is the best as you can swype with your thumb using on hand or if necessary use both thumbs tap on the same screen.
SK3 is a strong product as well but i think it just got left in the dust by the new swype. - 06-24-2012, 11:04 PM #13

Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
I used to think SwiftKey (betas and official) was better, but the new Swype beta is really awesome. I think it's my favorite keyboard right now.

I'm pretty much on the same boat as you, but I'm testing it out for my wife before she gets the galaxy s3. I have to say that it has improved a whole lot since I used it before. It will be perfect for her since she just can't get the hang of two handed typing on a virtual keyboard. That said, I still prefer Swiftkey.

Re: swiftkey 3 or swype beta?
I've been using Swiftkey for a long time and the new SwiftKey 3 is awesome. I definitely prefer it over Swype, but I must admit that I haven't tried the new Swype beta. Based on the comments here, I might check it out.
