Is the stock browser faster than Chrome for everybody else?
I still use Chrome since I use it on all my devices, but I'm slightly annoyed that the stock browser seems to be a smoother experience. I'm bone stock though. Anybody else notice this?

Using stock browser here on my Note, have tried Chrome and Dolphin and they both kinda suck
compared to the stock browser. The only thing future proof in electronics is the electricity itself.

I complain about this all the time on twitter. Its not even so much page load times. Scrolling, pinch to zoom, and general UI performance is just better on the stock browser. I wish the developers working on stock would get together with chrome guys to fix this. I really want to switch to chrome full time.

Re: Is the stock browser faster than Chrome for everybody else?
Chrome is faster than the stock browser for me on JB, and was almost as fast as the stock browser on ICS. Scrolling isn't as fast, but zoom performance, page loading, and interacting with page content all seem more fluid and responsive.
If you're talking about interaction and responsiveness, especially when typing/editing in the address bar, try turning off "Search and URL Suggestions" under 'Content' in Chrome's settings, or making sure that "Preload webpages" isn't set to 'Always' under 'Bandwidth Management', also in Chrome's settings.Represent yourself well; you never know what might happen. And try out the new Android Central app!

on both of my GN phones(VZW and non-US GSM versions),

Same here. Chrome has been very disappointing to me. It has a nicer UI, sure, but it isn't as fast. I'm not sure if it's just because it isn't well suited for ICS or what, but it just isn't as good as the stock browser.

Re: Is the stock browser faster than Chrome for everybody else?
I just started using Dolphin and I'm not impressed. Chrome and stock seem faster. Also, I can figure out how to access bookmarks and "find in page" without using sonar, but talking to my phone isn't alway realistic. (Like when I'm in the bathroom at work.)

Swipe to the right and you'll see the bookmarks.

Re: Is the stock browser faster than Chrome for everybody else?
I'm writing down your user name for future reference. Just in case you sell your phone
here or on eBay... no offense, I'd rather not buy a used phone that has been
"contaminated" like George Costanza's book at Brentanos Bookstore.
if you don't mind... post the last 5 digits of your phone's serial number.... I'd like to
blacklist it.
I have never take my phone(smart or dumb) or any other electronic device with me
to the bathroom. Only paper(book/news/paper) for me!

Re: Is the stock browser faster than Chrome for everybody else?
the only noticeable difference for me are:
-chrome loads pages faster
-stock browser is fitted perfectly on any page i visit (compared to adjusting the zoom in chrome)
-chrome looks and feels nicer
- tabbing in chrome rocks - 07-13-2012, 09:35 AM #20
