Default Verizon Galaxy Nexus has AOSP support again.."experimental"

It looks like with Jelly Bean being merged into AOSP tonight, full support for the Toro Galaxy Nexus has come in as well.

    From Jean-Baptiste Queru
We've been making progress on toro indeed, and we can now distribute
    Invensense's proprietary binaries.
I have no control over and no information about the OTA itself.
Factory images will be released after the OTA, as usual.

As for AOSP on the VZW Galaxy Nexus, it essentially matches the GSM version now.

Yay! We're a "real" Nexus again!

But seriously, this is awesome news.

    EDIT:
Ok, perhaps not "official". But JBQ said: "I don't consider toro to be higher than "experimental" at this point." But at least it's progress.

for the non-developer, can you explain what this means for VZ GNEX users?

For the non-developer, it doesn't really mean anything significant. Official OTAs will still be released whenever they're released. It does mean ROMs can be easily built from source, however.

    More from JBQ:
It's always been possible to create custom builds for the VZW Galaxy
Nexus (we've always distributed all the files we could), but from this
point you can expect that they'll be easier to develop and that
they'll work better in Jelly Bean than they did in Ice Cream Sandwich.

Man, I hope we don't have to wait too long for an OTA. This is awesome news though.

I'm distracted because I'm trying to compile it myself. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic.

I'm hoping to see a lot of people eating crow after this. I've been getting blasted for saying that the VZW Nexus IS A NEXUS for months now, and this feels great to read. Everybody who claimed it wasn't can suck it

My Galaxy Nexus just started speaking.... (about being a "real" Nexus again)

    It said:

"Just when I thought I was out.... they pull me back in..."

By the way, I always have 3 in the video folder of my Galaxy Nexus.
