Using the verizon nexus in India
Hey guys, so I have the LTE nexus, and I am going to India in a couple weeks, for a month or so. I might need to make calls there in India and it would certainly make it easier to just use my nexus instead of getting an all new phone.
So apparently Reliance is a CDMA carrier there, and I'm wondering if I can just swap SIM cards and make it work?
Anyone try this?
Thanks! - 07-21-2012, 03:33 AM #2

Re: Using the verizon nexus in India
To my knowledge, our phone is not a world phone, and the VZW GNex CDMA radio only supports VZW frequencies. And even a world phone on VZW is gonna have outrageous roaming charges. If you travel out of the country frequently, buy the GNex from the Play Store

Re: Using the verizon nexus in India
Be careful using your phone in India. I travel to India a couple times a year for work and a couple years ago I turned on my Droid Eris for about 30 minutes and the charges were over $25. The data rates are ridiculous.
Also getting a SIM card is not that easy in India. You will need 2 passport style photos and fill out some paperwork. Its a hassle really. At least it was when I first started traveling there before my work upgraded us to world phones. - 07-22-2012, 09:08 PM #7LG Nexus 4 // T-Mobile
