Keep Screen On in Clock While on Battery
I use the phone as a desktop clock at work and I would like the screen to stay on when I'm on battery. I have a desktop cradle that charges another battery but I don't have the Y cable to charge both at the same time, so I figure I would like to just charge the battery and then swap when/if needed.
I haven't found a way to keep the screen on while in the clock app when the phone is not charging, though. Does anyone know if there is a way to do that?
Also, this is a related question: Is it bad to constantly have your phone plugged in to charge? Or, does it matter? If I can't keep the screen on all day while on battery then I would have it plugged in all day and didn't know if that was bad. - 07-26-2012, 07:37 AM #2

Yeah it's bad to leave your phone on the charger...it's bad to leave your screen on constantly, but if you really want to.....
Download keep screen on or a similar app from the market. After you have that running, turn on your desk clock of choice and watch in amazement as your battery drains in under an hour and bits of the screen burn in. The last bit was sarcastic but I'm sure you get the idea.“Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things,
because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

Will the screen actually burn in, though? If I tap the clock it goes dark and then if you long press the clock it goes darker and the font turns blue and the clock moves every so often. Won't that mitigate screen burn in?
I know the effects of screen burn in first hand as I bought a used phone off eBay before my curernt GNex and it had a burn in of a keyboard so I want to avoid that at all costs. - 07-26-2012, 09:18 AM #5
