anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nexus?
anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nexus?
(on the phone and/or via wifi tethering)
my personal experience is about 90gb to 95gb a month and haven't
heard anything from VZW over the last couple of years. (never
lower than 78gb per month during all this time)
the only problem is that the continuous wifi tethering has casued the
Galaxy Nexus to heat up a LOT, especially when the batter is being
charged at the same time. - 09-06-2012, 08:15 PM #2
You sir are my hero. I get antsy when I approach 10gb. Wonder where the line is for over usage. Anyone hit it?!

I'm all for unlimited data (love my grandfathered plan), but damn it's only a phone
I just barely started averaging 2gb a couple months ago

Re: anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nex
The most I have used is about 40gb. Most of it was for uploading hd videos i have taken with my gnex to keep my sd free. Now thoughI can't upload to my Google drive anymore over the LTE network. This just started in the past 3 weeks. All my other apps and browsers that use data work perfectly fine transferring data. I also noticed that when i watch videos on my phone in my browser my signal switches from 4g to 3g for any video over 3-5 minutes long. And I have never had an issue losing 4g at home from vzw till now.
I still can't upload any pics or vids to my drive account over 4g/lte on vzw. I have taken out the battery, uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, force closed. I can upload over my wifi but at a 3-4 times slower than 6 mb up on vzw lte. I'm starting to think vzw is blocking me from uploading large files for some reason.
Also, the FCC will be testing randomly in all cities, every mobile network 3g, 4g. hspa, wimax, all of them and release that info for consumers to have a fair advantage for true information and getting their money's worth for the data they pay for, I saw on attack of the show on g4tv. Because all the carriers seem to be lying on who has more coverage and fastest speeds and unlimited isn't really unlimited and so on. - 09-08-2012, 11:19 AM #15
I average between 30-35gb a month with absolutely no WiFi tethering 8gb alone is on my YouTube subscriptions and the rest is divied up between several normal applications used by an abnormal user I suppose but it annoys me that all data isn't unlimited and plenty of bandwidth isn't handy everywhere.

Re: anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nex
Holy **** a TERABYTE!!! What would you do to reach a full TB? I use around 40GB-100GB/ month, it depends on the situations that come up during the month. Such as in November-December I will be taking numerous hunting trips to southern GA and there isn't any other internet connections out there besides 4G LTE (Verizon FTW!) and I expect to hit at least 100gb due to school work, Netflix, and lots of WiFi tethering. However month such as this one I have been super busy with school work having to check my email almost every few minutes, check teacher's websites constantly and even use WiFi tether when the School's wifi goes down so I am up to almost 40Gb this month, thats kinda low for me but for some people 40GB seems like a lot! Oh and I almost forgot, the HD Station for the Droid Razr has made my usage spike because I love watching YouTube videos on it, especially when its hooked up to my plasma TV!
I will never switch to share everything and Verizon will have to pull my Unlimited data from my cold, dead hands! - 09-08-2012, 01:43 PM #17

Re: anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nexus?
For well over a year I've normally consumed 30GB a month and have yet to hear from VZW. My unlimited data plan is truly unlimited! And to those ing about people using their "unlimited" data.... Really? Seriously! Be quiet with that nonsense. That's like ing about someone using the 7 sick days they have at work just because you only use 2.

Re: anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nexus?
Just Imagine if every customer used that much data imagine how crippled the network would be. For once I am in favor of the carriers putting an end to unlimited data so stop the abuse such as this. No need for a few people to mess it up for everybody. I am against increasing the price of plans though.

Re: anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nexus?
Really?! You're gonna complain about us actually USING our unlimited plans? Verizon advertised them as being truly unlimited a few years ago and they must keep their word as long as we pay the bill every month and pay full price for phone upgrades. Verizon also has THE best network in the US and they could easily take the load, its not like we're talking about AT&T here! lol I have used 40Gb/month of data for 2 years now and I know people in my area that use multiple times more, but yet I can still get 35-50mb/s on Verizon's 4G LTE no problem. How can you call this "abuse?" We aren't hacking the network or purposely trying to crash the network, we are just using the network under the terms of our contracts and terms of use, both of which allow for us to use all the data we would like to. You're saying they should stop offering unlimited data, what if there was an emergency and you had to have your phone for data intensive purposes,(I'm gonna use the situation we had a few weeks ago when hurricane Isaac went by my city in Fl and we had tornadoes and severe weather) whether it be to check local weather stations for severe weather alerts, let family and friends know you are ok, stream local radio stations for weather updates, etc? If you had a tiered plan and were scared to not check the weather because it would use the extra mb or stream that station for an extra few minutes to keep from going over your limit, you could get extremely hurt or even killed because you wouldn't of been warned about possible tornados, bad weather, etc. I realize this would only occur on rare occasions but boy, those are some mighty important situations!

Re: anyone got in trouble for using 100gb/month on VZW Galaxy Nexus?
Well just know that u guys are the reason they are changing that. People using 100gb would cause me to phase out unlimited too as a business decision. So when they figure out a way to pull us off our grandfathered plans and they will. Please don't complain because your one of the reasons why.

I hope Verizon starts throttling at 5 or 10.

I'm on my phone constantly and never used more than 3gb. I don't tether much though. I turn on wifi a lot when I'm home.
