I was downloading a couple remote desktop apps and all of a sudden I see this "Apps store" icon on my screen. I didn't download this. I can't even see it on my app drawer or under apps in settings. How did I get this? What's the correct way to remove it? Thanks

Look for it in "manage apps" if it's not there check your Web browser links. It might just be a Web shortcut.

Same happened to me only my mystery app was texas poker. Not sure which remote desktop app is the culprit because I downloaded three. Pocketcloud, X2, and Teamviewer.

Probably X2 -- had the exact same thing happen. I can't remember what it installed, exactly, but soon after I installed it I started getting notifications like "Hey, this game is now available in the Play Store." I zapped X2 and the app it downloaded, went with Pocketcloud, and presto, no more spam in my notification bar.
