I remember I did something similar with 4.1.1, it included clearing the google service framework, anyone remember the exact process?

google framework services > clear data > force disable > About phone > System update > Check update
I have no "Check update" in my About Phone section.
It must be enable to hit "update"... at least on mine. No luck yet.

Even with that enabled, I don't have the check update option. Very odd.

Yes, whether disabled or not, I don't have the System Update option in my About Phone.
I think that he meant "force stop:" instead of "force disable:".Quote:

I did this and now the check update button has vanished, I disabled it and now google framework services is no longer in app running window. How can I get it back?Quote:

JorGeorge, It is at the bottom of the list now that it is disabled.
Thats strange... That was the procedure with the ICS update...
I also tried the ICS update technique.. No luck. Still on 4.1.1
I doubled checked with mine, i have the check update button. And i am one 4.1.1 stock.
maybe do a hard reset? pull the battery out while the phone is still on?
Yes, I used the same procedure from ICS as well, but the System Update is just not there.
Does not seem like the same trick is going to work this time around
were you able to get back your Check update button?
Yes by re-enabling google framework services, it is at the bottom of ALL appsQuote:

My Google Framework Services says it is "Calculating..." data usage and has the Clear Data button grayed out. This has persisted through Force Stop, Disable, Enable, and reboot. Anyone else have this issue? Any advice?
Just gotta give it time... took a couple of minutes to finally stop calculating for me.
In a side note I don't really know if the framework trick works. Seems to me if it doesn't work on the first try, it finally working on the 10th is simply coincidence.
We'll get the update when vzw deems and probably no sooner

Worked like a charm (again!) for me. Took quite a few tries this time. My son gave up after a while, though, but 4.2.2. definitely has some nice new features I don't recall seeing in the high-level change logs.
Looks like you're the lucky one to receive the OTA. Is anyone lucky enough to receive it yet?
Got it to work for me on the second try. It is downloading now. I am connected via wifi for what it is worth.
Yes, the D/L will only happen while on Wi-Fi.Quote:

In case anyone else is having trouble finding that, it's actually "Google Services Framework".Quote:

I would like to get it back, I got it when I was leaving work and figured I'd update when I got home. Got home and let it run, phone rebooted but I realized I had a mod installed that removes the google search bar and last time I had to remove that and then install so I stopped it - it reported a signature error anyway. Now the phone says there is no update and last time I remember I had to go delete a file or something (or wait several days) before it would report that my phone was ready. For the life of me I can't remember how I got it triggered again last time.
You're correct. I was giving the instructions off of my head.. Anyways, the force update seemed to work...Quote:

I tried a few different ways... Nothing worked until I gave it one last shot.. Maybe by coincidence, who knows? But I'm on 4.2.2!
Here's what I did:
Clear data > force stop > click home button > task manager > swipe close all apps > settings > about phone > Check for update > MONEY!!
No worries. I just mentioned it in case someone had trouble finding it.Quote:

Glad you got the update. Still nothing for me. No biggy. Another day or two isn't going to make much difference to me. :) I'm hoping it'll have better reception/signal. Does it appear to be?
