Does anyone care about the Vetizon OTA 4.2.2 update
Wondering if anyone is going to bother installing the Verizon OTA which is coming out today? I've been running the CyanogenMod 4.2.2 for months so I'm not sure there is any benefit in switching back to a stock ROM..

Re: Does anyone care about the Vetizon OTA 4.2.2 update
I care. I run rooted stock instead of buggy roms. I hate flashing roms and wiping my phone, redownloading apps and logging back into each one. I use a password saving app that stores all of them and I hate losing things like this when I wipe. I love vanilla android stock just the way it is with a few tweaks here and there from rooting. I am really looking forward to being able to do photospheres and using dashclock.

I would switch back just because it's probably REALLY smooth and stable I can't loose emojis (haha) and the customization. I'm running AOKP build 4 and I love how much you can do when your rooted

Re: Does anyone care about the Vetizon OTA 4.2.2 update
already have it on my Nexus 7 but yes I certainly will download it to my phone. I. should not have flash roms to this phone.
there are some enhancements in this upgrade but none of them are absolutely required but the new camera functionality is welcome
well I will see what happens when it happens.

Re: Does anyone care about the Vetizon OTA 4.2.2 update
Has anyone noticed any differences between the stock 4.2.2 and a custom 4.2.2? I've loaded a lot of CyanogenMod nightlys and with the exception of a single build I've had no problems. There will likely be another point release shortly which Verizon will delay for months and god know how long Verizon will delay Key Lime Pie when it comes out. I figure its simple to stick with Cyanogen rather than switch back to root for a few weeks.

Re: Does anyone care about the Vetizon OTA 4.2.2 update
I kind of wish I had waited to upgrade rather than install as soon as I was notified. I'm really not happy with this release. Bluetooth audio quality is a major issue for me as well as the major lag. A shame really that it has these issues considering how long it took for us to get it.
I've never rooted a phone before and don't know much about it. It would be great to just modify the few things I need and leave everything else as is. - 03-21-2013, 01:52 PM #12

Re: Does anyone care about the Vetizon OTA 4.2.2 update
I got the OTA update today and it fails every time I try it. I wiped the phone three separate times and each time it crashes to the Dead android screen with the red warning symbo,l half way through. The phone was previously unlocked to install the 4.1.1 leak late last summer / fall, maybe this is the problem? But I did get the OTA notice. The kernel and radio #s were identical to the other two nexuses in my family prior to their upgrades today. After the 2nd falconry reset, I re-locked the boot-loader and went back to stock recovery. but it still failed. Oddly, when i tried to install the Leaked version of 4.2.2. that hit a few weeks ago, it crashed to the same screen each time. Any ideas? Verizon said they would send me a Factory refurb and Samsung wants the phone for 10-14 days to "Repair" it. I'm open to any suggestion other then a custom ROM, I went that route with my old ERIS and don't want the Agg of "Updating" my phone every few days to fix what the previous version broke.

It is really worth it to root if only to install those apps that require root.
I voided my warranty. - 03-22-2013, 07:28 AM
