First of all, I don't know why I attempted to do this on my own. Technology and I are not friends. I break things by looking at them. Anyway...
I am an American living in Germany (military spouse). I bought an unlocked Verizon Samsung Note II (model SCH-I605) from someone who was about to buy a new phone. Everything worked except the data when I was out and about, i.e. not connected to wifi. I asked around about how to fix it and someone mentioned that Verizon models have to be rooted in order for data to work using a Telekom SIM card. I used this youtube video for instructional purposes:
When it got to the part where you upload the .tar file into Odin, instead of the "green light" like the guy got in the video, it said it failed and I was stuck with an incomplete load screen on my phone. I tried turning it off but it wouldn't, tried the volume down+home+on button thing and nothing happened. So I took the battery out *cringe* I know I'm awful, what was I thinking.
So now I have a screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I downloaded Kies and when I tried to connect to recovery mode it said that my device was not recognized. I tried using a different USB port, restarting the program, uninstalling/reinstalling, and restarting my computer, and none of those worked.
I know that is a lot of technological illiteracy happening all at once, but I would be super grateful for any insight anyone could give me on these issues.
