I believe the antenna is built into the back cover you might want to make sure it's getting a good connection it should be the two gold looking connections at the top of the back cover. On the phone is the two beside the sim card. Can anyone else verify this because I'm making an educated guess.

I have the flip case and haven't noticed any signal degradation between my SGS3 and the Note2. The signal actually seems more consistent with the note than with the S3
