battery cover question

What is the the patch looking think on the inside cover?

is this on all carriers back cover?

the reason i ask is cause i would like to get rid of all the verizon logo crap.

I think thats the NFC antenna. And it's on the back cover for the flip case so it should be on the back cover for other cases.

Question about the speaker grill on the back cover, is anyone elses raised? The thin middle piece on mine is slightly bowed out and its like a small bump on the back. Is this normal?

No the flip covers are an accessory you must purchase. The 39.99 price is a little steep. Had one for my s3 and my view of it was mixed at best.

It is made that way so that when laying flat the speaker isn't muffled.

You're exactly right. That is indeed the NFC chip for the phone.

It is on the inside of my Sprint version's back cover, which has no Sprint logos on the outside.

Just in case the contact points might be different, here's a photo of my cover to let you compare.
