OK, so now I'm rooted using the root method at XDA at the link:



Phone works perfectly without a hiccup or loss of responsiveness.
Very appreciative of their work!

Now I need a way to get Wireless Tethering up and running. Anyone with any success?

I did come across a link by Droidxcon "Try this
[App-Mod/Source] WifiTether for JB TouchWiz Roms"

I tried it but couldn't get it to work. Not sure if it's me or the software isn't compatible?

Has anyone been able to achieve wireless tethering?

If so how? Instructions with links to any app to download would be most appreciated.

The Note II works perfectly fine with foxfi. We do have the paid version though if that makes a difference.

I updated to the newest version possible on wireless tether (3.3 pre 2 under about) used galaxy s3 as device checked wifi driver reload 1 and 2, setup method netd-ndc (master), checked send netd msz client, and checked routing fix. Tethering works perfectly on my Verizon Galaxy Note 2!!!!

You can also use a widget like fattin hotspot toggle , it bypasses the check for hotspot. No root needed. Same thing was on the s3

Yes. But foxfi times out every 15 min on the free version. The paid version doesn't time out.

I just found another means to do this. Download this widget from the market.

Go into Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Hotspot and configure your settings. Then turn the hotspot on via the widget loaded above. It actually works. No root required.

It's about $7 for the app.....i'm a fan of supporting developers who come up with great apps that i use often!! this one is very stable and i've never had a problem using it. the free version does time out so if you are just jumping on quickly to problem....its also a good way to see if its working for you before committing to buy.

I've been using FoxFi on my Droid Razr. Glad to hear it works with the Note 2. Nine days and counting till the Christmas bonus arrives and then, so does the Note 2!

While trying to figure this out over the last 30 minutes I installed Busybox from Google Play. Not sure if it was needed, but I know some root apps like it installed.

The craziness has been dropped only for tiered plans. I'm glad to hear that tethering works. I may be picking one of these up soon.

I set up foxfi on my phone when it was on the new line. I went to Verizon and changed the phone to my unlimited data plan and foxfi still works perfectly. Should I expect any difficulty from verizon? ( like a big bill) or is this ok?
