In the photo, the tab is indicated by the red arrow. It's annoying when reading, the tab is just in the way. And what's the purpose of it anyways? I pulled it to the right, and some random apps appear.
Thanks,
Press and hold the back key. This is the multi-task menu, hold and drag an app to the screen then do the same for a second app. You can multi-task this way, however only the apps listed are usable. As soon as developers update their app more will be available.

Thanks,
if you pull the tab out it will display the apps that are compatible with Multi window functions. you can press and hold the application and drag it out to the main screen, which will split the screen in 2. this way you can check your email and text someone at the same time or whatever other functions you want to use that are availble for Multi window functionality
and as mentioned above press and hold back button to appear and reappear.
if you pull down the notification bar and move the toggles to the left, the last toggle will be multi window , if you de-select this it wont accidently open anymore
