Little Wifi Notification Trick - No Root Required.
I saw this in the DNA forum and tried it on my Note 2 and it appears to work.
To temporarily disable the persistent and annoying ongoing wifi notification, do the following:
Pull down notifications
Long press the wifi notification and the press on "App Info"
When the App Info screen appears select "Force Stop".
You're done and no more wifi notifications.......... until you reboot your phone. You will then have to do the process over again.
Better than nothing eh?

Sorry Edge... I gave bad info... you want to Force Stop... not Disable (you cant just like you said) I have amended my original post.
This video is for the DNA, but it worked on my Note 2.
Fast forward to 1:10 to cut to the chase.
