Question Verizon Note 2 - Able to use SIM cards from another country?

just wondering if you are able to go on vacation to another country and use a SIM card from a carrier in the Note 2? anyone know?

my contract with the Thunderbolt is up sometime next month and I want the Note 2 but not sure if I will stay with Verizon or jump to T-Mobile
