When will Verizon release OTA update for Android 5.0? (after Google announces it on 5/15)
I assume it will show up for the GSM versions of Galaxy Note 2 first. Verizon Galaxy Note 2 will no doubt be the last to get it... just wondering how late... sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas?

It's really anyone's guess at this point (aka pure speculation). Expect it later than sooner though.
We haven't gotten 4.1.2 yet and your already talking about 5.0?!

I heard that they were going to pre-release to the those that wanted to, beta-testing it basically, but its still 5.0. Tentative date I heard was 4/1.Quote:

Once Verizon pulls my Unlimited Data from my contracts cold dead hands, thats when they can get the middle finger from me and a termination of my account. Probably off to Tmobile or something.

Highly unlikely! I didn't mean to burst your bubble with my earlier comment. Members here have been with Verizon for an extended period of time to know from past experience. I love Verizon for the signal strength (voice and data) but when it comes to O/S upgrades they are painfully slow. The VZ GN is in it's twilight years and will probably not see another official update other than today's announced 4.2.2 The phone was introduced on Verizon way back in Dec 2011.Quote:

Probably a conservative guess. Jelly bean was announced in june 2012. The Verizon gs3 got jb in December. We may see it by end of the year,but most likely sometime early next year.Quote:

I would start thinking about getting up to 4.2.2 first before jumping to any newer (unreleased/unconfirmed) OS at this point.
This is a serious question? Even if a new OS is announced during Google's conference there's no guarantee of an exact date. It will be a very, very long time. Ask this again in 6 months and you'll still be waiting.

LOL. We haven't even been updated to 4.2 yet. If you want a device to get upgrades on time get the nexus 4.
I'm wondering what's wrong with the note 2? I can't find anything that needs improvement except maybe the usual battery life. Performance is solid.

The Year of the Bewildered Cheetah most likely. Or maybe a bit sooner, say the Year of the Confounded Swamp Rat. It depends on licensing deals for NFL Mobile of course. And they have to clear their ringtones through the RIAA, TSA, FBI and KGB. In other words, don't hold your breath.
If you want Android 5 on your Note 2, forswear the s-pen and start using Cyanogenmod. That's probably the only way you'll see anything beyond Android 4.1.x before 2014.
one thing is certain... Android 5.0 will be released by summer, at the latest.... making it to VZW Note 2 will probably take another 10 months after that.(minimum)Quote:

A lot of people have this misconception about updating a phone. It's not always about wanting to fix things that are wrong. It's about looking forward to exciting new features, performance inprovements, battery life increases, etc. Android 5.0 is almost surely going to have something interesting to make us want that update, and I'm sure the 4.2.2 update will be nice too. May even include a Samsung version of Photosphere. Is that not something to look forward to?Quote:

Why wouldn't people want an update that brings new additions to your phone? I don't get that mind set.
