Bricked Note 2 After OTA update?

My brother just tried to download the OTA update and the phone just flashes the Samsung galaxy Note 2 logo at boot up.

The phone was 100% stock and never rooted. Any ideas on how to fix or why this happened?

Is he waiting 5 mins to 9 mins to biit or is he pulling the battery before then?

If it still won't boot I would go into recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache and try again to boot.

If it still doesnt work he can use alternative return to stock file through odin
Or
Take it into verizon to get replacement.

Volume up/home. Continue to hold and press power

Has let it run for 15 mins with no luck. Andi just tried to boot into recovery and no dice.

download the alternative file and try flashing it to stock, but the safer bet would be taking it into Verizon since the device was never rooted

I haven't tested it after the update but it should be fine

I just did this using the alt file and pit and it worked. Now seeing about re-updating.

I flashed the .pit file through Odin. It unbricked my phone, did not erase any data and the update went through just fine.

Went to Best Buy with my brother (where he bought his Note 2) and talked with the Samsung kiosk rep there. the guy spent 45 mins trying to figure it out and went through 2 binders full of information and nothing worked. We then went to geek squad to get a new phone through his insurance coverage and they said it will take 7 days to get. Man is he pissed.
