OKAY! what in the world is the 5-6 gigs of miscellaneous memory on Verizon note 2? I mean i was so baffled by this, i even went to T-mobile & AT&T store to check out their GN2 and their miscellaneous files are completely empty.

My question is, if i root my phone, can i practically empty out that folder?

I think part of that space includes the Touch Wiz system files.

I'm still missing about 3GB of free space that I can't locate. Everything I've seen makes it look like my storage is reading like it's doubled. I believe /data/media is the same as /mnt/sdcard which is why it appears I'm seeing double.

It's Touch Wiz. It uses 5.77 GB of internal storage.

    That seems excessive to me....

On my spare desktop PC, I'm still running the old WindowsXP. The entire Windows folder takes up only 4.2GB.

No that's about right. Touch wiz on the s4 is about 8gb so I'd say we are lucky.

I wonder what kind of junk requires 8gb?
