root after newest update?

I have a note 2 that has been rooted with safe root,currently baseband mj9 and I'm getting the update warning!!so I tried to update and it tried to run and the droid ended up on his back with a red asterisk in his belly lol! So I changed the SDM and fw files in root browser to .bak and then I had some really screwey problems afterwards....play store would not open nor would root browser until I changed the files back to .apk, so my question is can I unroot get update and reroot?? My battery life has been horrible since making these changes also!! I don't want anything custom just stock with root ,the for looking
