Phone freezes daily after KitKat update

My phone has been freezing randomly after 4.4 update. It has always been while it is in sleep mode. It won't respond for an x amount of time (or until I take the battery out and restart it). Sometimes it becomes responsive again for a few minutes before it restarts itself.

on the side note, the clipboard doesn't show up as an option anymore in some apps but that's just a small inconvience

can someone help me fix it?
