Default Will Jelly Bean ROMs be available on rooted S3?

Once I root my S3, would I be able to load a JB Rom with the boot-loader still locked?

I came from a GN and have been running JB for a few weeks and love it. Will go back to the GN if the S3 can't take a custom ROM like JB or others.

I really miss AOSP. Not liking TouchWiz!

Give it a little time. You can already root, load a custom recovery, and even ROMs. In fact, early someone on xda even managed to figure a way to load a different kernel (though this is very experimental yet). I'm confident that in the coming weeks, or perhaps even sooner, we will see nearly as many options as other SIIIs have.

Keep in mind most people have had heir hands on the Verizon version for a couple days at most. Once everyone that wants one has one, and the JB source has been out for more than a day and a half I'm confident it will be fine.

I'm looking forward to this too, as touchwiz brings some decent features but at great expense. I have both in gnex and an s3 in my pocket and it's though. I'm loving the S3 hardware and the gnex's (JB) software.

You and I are definitely in the same boat. My S III only arrived last night, but I can't find a single thing hardware wise to complain about. I love it. But I find myself constantly wishing it was running any of the ICS (and now JB) roms I have used on my G Nexus. I'm going to give it a few weeks, but if something can't be figured out, then sadly this S III will become my wife's phone and I'll go back to my Nexus. Well, sadly for me anyway. She'll be stoked because she currently has the Fascinate. Hardware is important, but if I know a better user experience is in a phone sitting a few feet away on my night stand, it doesn't matter. I'm not going to say touchwiz sucks, but it certainly is not for me. And it's not as if the hardware on the G Nexus isn't good.

Heh, same deal here. My fiance has a GNex too, so if I sell my old one and change my mind she'd probably be willing to switch. Maybe I am naive, but I've been through this "OMG WE CAN'T LOAD ROMS" deal so many times with different devices, and someone always works something out. I hope this turns out the same way. Until then, we should make sure our spouses are using their cases and keeping their phones in good order ;-)

After coming from the Fascinate running ICS I'm happy with ICS on S3. Will wait it out for the JB rom. I did load APEX launcher, like it better than stock. Only thing I will change will be to root it. But going to wait a little while and see if this OTA I keep hearing about is coming before the root.

To answer your question, no. Not at the moment. In time we will see many ROM options including those built from JB. If the bootloader gets cracked I'd imagine we would see them almost immediately.

Be patient, in the mean time try an alternative launcher and keep your eyes peeled for themes.

Yeah just hold on tight. I went from a Evo 3D on launch day to this on Verizon. It took us like two months to get S-Off but we still had it waaaaaay before HTC did there unlock thing. This is the best phone on one of the biggest networks. Give people time I'm sure they'll find a work around

It took me a long time to come to rooting my GNEX, but I ended up doing that for tether purposes. I loved the GNEX exactly how it came. Once I rooted of course I loved AOKP, though.

But now, with the shared family plan, tethering is included so I don't need to root for that. I've got Apex launcher. It's so fast and never slows down. Excellent battery life.

Only thing I miss is the rest of the ICS/JB theme, including contacts/dialer, and also would like to try Google Now of course. But I can wait.
