Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
I would guess it is the sim they are talking about, unless verizon doesnt want samsung to take sales away from them by releasing a developer phone so they are going to unlock to bootloader

Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
If Verizon is allowing the bootloader to be unlocked... then why would Samsung be releasing and unlocked bootloader VZW/Dev S3??
What would be the point? - 07-15-2012, 10:53 PM #14

Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
Nah, the Verizon reps don't know the difference between the bootloader and the sim unlock for global use. I definitely am not holding out any hope.

Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
Yup and you know how that goes if it sounds to good to be true then it usually isnt true.
It's just combination of ,,,confusion or how its being interrupted ,,or just wishful thinking .
The more I researched about this the more it seems to be about the global unlocking .That was mentioned I think even before the S3 was released ,,, that it was going to be unlocked with an update sometime after its release.
EDIT
also this

Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
I would say don't get your hopes up on anything about the bootloader. While it would be fantastic and actually restore some of my faith in Verizon I don't see it happening. However, I see it this way. Can you imagine how many people sent these devices back due to the locked bootloader? That would be a massive amounts of refunds and a massive amount of lost revenue. It is possible that Verizon is now rethinking its strategy since most people who got their phone first have until this Thursday or Friday to send them back.
You can't take what either company says as true. If Verizon claims that they require a locked bootloader on all of their devices explain the GNex. While its a Google device, Verizon's statement regarding the bootloader says that it requires the bootloader to be locked to provide blah blah blah. It MAY have been Samsung doing this so they can pull sales from Verizon and take them for themselves. Welcome to capitalism! - 07-16-2012, 08:51 AM #19

Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
You guys are wrong, there is an unlock available soon, it's called the developer phone.
I know enough to get into trouble, but not enough to get myself out of that trouble. - 07-16-2012, 03:21 PM #25
Re: Galaxy S3 bootloader patch coming soon?
How could anyone have believed Verizon would ever do anything to help their customers! I bet they had a real good laugh at Verizon HQ when they heard the rumors of a software update to unlock the phone.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if they somehow limit the developer phone, saying its 'not the optimal experience on our network'.
