How to tweak kernel running clean rom 5.6

So I am confused on how to set my cpu and tweak my kernel. As I tried using Rom toolbox pro, but the cpu min. Slider never stays at the max level of 1512. Why? I am trying to make my phone as optimal as possible for gaming. So I am looking for performance while plugged into a charger.

If I'm not mistaken you have to flash a custom kernel and with some roms you have to change some files to get the changes to stick. Look at some custom kernels over at xda and rootzwiki for more information.
