Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
Was going to hold off as long as i could to see if any other phones would be announced but looks like I'll be pre-ordering the S3 today to burn my last upgrade and hold onto my unlimited plan as long as i can.

I believe that this is an indicator that the s 3 will definitely be released after the 28th. that way people will be forced into new contracts who did not preorder .

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
Yeah basically for most of us this means that if we buy a subsidized phone within the next two weeks, it will likely be our last.
Im already planning setting aside cash for the next upgrade after the S3. Full retail, ouchies. - 06-12-2012, 09:06 AM #55
Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
I think this is almost confirms the release date rumoured in several places to be the 28th is accurate. It's a Thursday, which is when people have stated Verizon likes to do releases, and I personally was one of the ones told by customer service that the phone will be shipping earlier than 7/9.

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
Q: GF and I are currently on a gradfathered 3G unlimited family plan -- She has an Iphone4 and i've got a Droid 2 (pre-ordered the GS3) -- now, im obv. keeping my grandfathered plan while going 4GLTE with the preorder -- what happens to her? Will we remain separate (3g unlimited for her, 4g unlimited for me) even though we're still on a family plan together?
I feel like i'm looking into this too much and giving myself a headache

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
Everything will stay the same for you. Now when she goes to upgrade at some point after the 28th I imagine...she will be forced into a capped data plan individually. If you guys decide you want a "data share" plan...you can make that change at any time. Though I dont see why you would want to.

I think the reason they are upping the fee is cause people did not complain about it like they did with the. Proposed $2 fee to pay your bill online or via the phone. So now they think they can milk us for more. Don't be surprised if they raise it to $40or $45 if people still don't complain over the upgrade fee increase.

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
I’m sitting here with unlimited data, a GSIII on order and a wife that is complaining that she still has a feature phone while I’m getting my third smartphone…
I’m tempted to just add the $30 2 GB data plan onto her line so she can start using my old smartphone. But that is a $30 waste of money, as she wouldn’t really use the data. She just wants some of the capabilities of the smartphones.
Damn you VZW. Just let me add a smartphone as a regular phone and not have to pay out the end for data that will never be used!

Bets on whether Verizon forces us off our unlimited when we activate our phones on the 9th?

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
Same here. The rep checked with his supervisor and told me the same thing. I am still not confident they will allow us to keep it considering it is taking effect 6/28 and that just happens to coincide with the rumored ship date for the S3.
I have a feeling they may try to get us on the technicality of activation date vs pre-ordered date. I hope this doesn't happen but in light of all the pre-orders with unlimited data email confirmations, wouldn't surprise me if there's a class action brewing if all the pre-orders are "forced" off the unlimited. - 06-12-2012, 10:05 AM #67

I'm loving these new plans, $30 cheaper a month is great! And you get free hotspot and unlimited minutes and texting! Goodbye unlimited, both of my lines never went over 2gb anyway

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
Considering that when I pre-ordered it had me choose my plan and features along with the ability to keep my 30 dollar unlimited data. The preorder conditions should stand.
Ive read various posts where people called to confirm this and it had been confirmed. Personally I dont beleive they would reverse this for people that pre-ordered.
Is it possible..sure, but I dont think its likely. Id call if your very worried about it. - 06-12-2012, 10:16 AM #72

Re: Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?
I am sure hoping/counting on being able to keep the unlimited plan on my preorder. I ordered yesterday and when I saw the article posted today with the date of June 28th I got nervous. I started looking around for posts on the topic. Had it been that we were gonna have to swap to new plan I was going to cancel my order and go with the Maxx.
