Next big phone after the SIII
I'm on my HTC Thunderbolt, can't upgrade before November without paying full price. Love my Thunderbolt but would like to upgrade. Any thoughts on the next big phone after the SIII sometime around November?

DROID maxx hd is my bet. Also don't discount the HTC DROID incredible 4G LTE. It's a pretty solid phone.

Re: Next big phone after the SIII
was waiting for the razr maxx hd before we got lucky and had the Galaxy S3 come out on verizon (seemed up in the air a few weeks ago). i was regretting going with the 1-yr on the thunderbolt from january to may when there were NO new premier phones, but circumstances given what they are with the unlimited data, the timing seems fortuitous in retrospect.

There's also that Sony one that will be announced in 2 weeks. No idea if it will come to Big Red though.

Lol,Im not so sure how much bigger of a phone I actually want tho.I mean I don't want to be holding a tablet size phone to my ear.I know the note 2 isn't that much bigger but the trend seems to still be heading that way.

Re: Next big phone after the SIII
i'm in the boat where i am wondering how this s3 will compare w/ the next nexus.
i'm not crazy about touchwiz or the actual look of the phone, but everything else is awesome-- especially the removable memory and battery. and it's FAST.
i feel kinda pushed into upgrading now, because if i want to keep my unlimited data, i need to upgrade now, and be safe for 2 years, basically. i know i can keep it regardless, but i am not in the means of buying a phone unsubsidized, so i guess this is the choice i gotta make.
i'm not a huge data user at all, but with lte i probably will be. kinda like a chicken/egg thing, haha.
does the shared data plan eliminate the personal data plan w/ $10 family member?
also, i liked the nexus's getting the updates first. is samsung really "that" bad? - 06-12-2012, 06:59 PM #19

Re: Next big phone after the SIII
iphone 5?
It better have a screen over 4 inches as 4.5 and above seem to
be the way to go now a days.
It better have more than just re-branded navigation with turn by turn
directions. Tom Tom/Google maps any one? LOL.
Eyes Free? This is suppose to be in car voice commands and innovative?
Hmm??? does the over 10 year old On-Star or over 5 year old SYNC
ring a bell?
It had better have a transporter along with the option to set
"Phazers to stun" or a flux capacitor to really be something.
LOL.The only thing future proof in electronics is the electricity itself.

Re: Next big phone after the SIII
As far as Android goes, the S3 and HOX are likely to be the big phones of the summer. Expect the S3 to be a bit more popular, due to its universal availability. That may change, however, if VZW decides to bring on a HOX variant after the Incredible LTE comes out, as a direct successor to the Rezound. I don't see that as very likely, however.
Razr HD will likely be out this summer, but I wouldn't expect it to be nearly as big as the first Razr was, because of the S3. It'll be a great phone and very popular among Verizon customers, but its only for Verizon, at least at first, and won't be coming to other US carriers. With everyone expecting the Jellybean debut at Google IO, I'd imagine the next Nexus will be the next big thing internationally. Remains to be seen how and when Google implements their direct sales model, and whether this too will come to Verizon.
Keep in mind that phone enthusiasts such as ourselves are all pretty much aware of the policy change regarding unlimited data, and as such most all of us with upgrades are using them now for the S3. That means development should be huge, and most of us won't be buying something full retail for awhile now. So I couldn't say what is going to be the next device on Verizon that will be as popular among our community as the S3, but I'd guess nothing till the Nexus.
